Just finished reading "IF GOD WAS A BANKER" by RAVI SUBRAMANIAN. Its a good read. Though the author seemed to be out of ink and paper in concluding the story. He simply finished the whole tale in just 1 page.

Its a story of 2 IIMs passouts and working in the same (an international) bank. Both have their different approaches to life and work, and conclude to teach us the importance of being honest, and humane.

But.... is this a realy story? Are the banks really so corrupt and policitised?

Just finished "34 Bubblegums and Candies" by Preeti Shenoy. Nice n refreshing book!
It is a collection of 34 real life incidents. I am sure everyone will be able to relate to many of them. The writing is very lucid.

Re: Some Books I have Read & Would Recommend - 01-12-2008, 06:07 PM

Hi all,
I hav been wanting to read a book for really long now, but cudn't do it. I also dunno the books that r good enuf to read now. Of course, this thread helps in finding good books, but, i am in urgent need to gift a book to a dear friend of mine........need some help here.
She's very close to me, but is gonna get married soon (happily though), and cant pursue her dream of going for higher studies or even take up a job (conservative in-laws actually).........i'm feeling a li'l bad abt it, though she seems to b very happy abt it.

Pls, suggest a book that can make her really happy, n lift her spirit too. This will probably be the best thing i cud give her..........so, do help me if possible.

Sorry for this awkward request....n thanks to all who can help me in this.

Regards,
Archyta

kiterunner by Khalid hosseini is a book i would very highly recommend.had been wanting to read it for a long time and finally when i got my hands on it....could not put it down. the story is as human as one can get!!..

also if u like spy stories and political thrillers try Ken Follet's novels-
Key to Rebecca...how one Nazi spy almost changed the course of WW2 by helping the nazis 'almost' reach cairo
Triple...just read it..

Also try Edgar Allen poe......i think his stories come in the form of those children's books .....'illustrated classic editions'...but they are real gems

CAREFUL with that axe
