Ok all this will be quite a cliche but it must be said.
I mean it's good and fine using this as a therapeutic platform to vent your anger against the system...but unless it has some objective purpose towards change, in the end it will amount to nothing.
I mean we all seem to share the same viewpoint that the political system is trash, but how many of us are even going to do one thing about it.
Why if we were to think idealistically we could turn this platform into a WatchDog organisation or even an initially low-intensity political organisation.
The country needs serious change, a revolution of sorts in attitude... someone will have to make sacrifices, so let's quit passing the buck till the cows come home.
To misquote the infamous Toohey from Fountainhead....Let us organise. I'm serious...I'm all for activism. | Nah nah!!!
Politics is not cheap!! We crash the market by voting in some prize louts. Who would dare call politics cheap in, say, the UK!! Blunkett had to step down for expediating the processin of his mistress' child's Latino nanny's passport processing!!! Ever see that happen here?
Glad to hear that bit about being all for activism. There are quite a number of activists here. We have aspiring activist in our Mod, zIngo bhai. I am an old campaigner. Seems you have got a lump of smoulderin coal in the gastric chamber. Mike is another. Allwin no less.
So what say folks???
cheers!!! | | | | | | | |

I'm serious...I'm all for activism. | well u stole my words buddy....i am all for action...........i mean dont you all think that its high time for us to put our considerable efforts where our considerable mouth is!........its very easy to observe and pass comments but its difficult to actually do something bout it........how many times have you guys tipped the local pandu when he caught you without the helmet on!.....or how many times have u resorted to backdoor entry in offices or banks just to get the work done faster..........unfortunately we hardly realise that corruption doesnt speed up....infatc it slows down the system.
AND how many times have we just accepted that the other person has to be paid a bribe to get the work done?!
as the famous words go"there are two types of men in this world- the reasonable and the unreasonable... the reasonable man adopts himself to the world while the unreasonable insists on the world to change............much of the development depends on the unreasonable man!..........so for a change "let us stop accepting and be unreasonable"
a hindi line that inspires me "har sant kahe saadhu kahe sach aur sahas hai juske mann mein anth mein jeet usiki rahe"

Ahlan....
Was on a long vacation...in chennai...jus got bak to mumbai...so wasnt arround when the
recent incedent at Marine Drive happend...
But guess the baklash the incident has stirred up was a long time coming anyway...
I have been in mumbai for just a couple of yrs now...and boy...this city has a buzz about it
But the cops r crude dudes...they have been since i got here...
i live in BVI and my buddies and i like to prowl...u know...like take a midnite stroll
sometimes or...get some fresh air...and i have been stopped by the coppers many times...
made to sit in their vans even...(and no i wasnt drunk...wansnt doin anything remotely silly even)
Good i hear some of u guys thinking...at least the cops r on their beats makin sure the city
is safe...but man...these coppers a rude...they swear...get all personal...and humiliate u
i'd hate to be a girl in a sitiation like that...but we lived with it...coppers wud be coppers...
Now my point...
Maybe the last incident was like a shot of adrenenalin mixed with other cool hormones that
all of a sudden made the 'general-public' animal's sennses more hightend...
they see, hear and smell the stuff that was hapening all along rite under their noses...
The coppers need some smoethening new...some training...some constuctive vent for their
frustrations...some sand paper to smooth out the rough edges...
They shud feel like they are there to 'serve and protect' and not because they 'own the law'
And i feel the puplic shud press for it...
Mumbai is great and all...but its still not like those old cities in europe that have grown
old already and have stopped growing (culturally)...Its evolving...and the changes have to be now
not later
