ChUcK | that would be Guy Pratt.
He has also played bass for Tears For Fears on Elemental.
and done OSTs of many a movies including Wild West. Fine chap. He even plays in Delicate Sound OF Thunder. Brillaint fella. Looks out of place at times especially when seen in the same screen as Dave Gilmour and Nick Mason.

I know he was one of the finest..one of my early icons. But people neglect Kriger etc in his shade
Its sad, he used to pass out middway through almost all bottlegs i ahve on records and all songs had that timge though never undermine that amazing keyboard influence.
The book was ok but it was when i saw Van Kilmer pitray the same in THE DOORS i realzied what it all stood for.
Jim Morrison was a poet alright and i still quote him more than often many a times but in terms of music, its the rest of the band i hold forth.
Maybe im just feeling so cuz i saw a remix of Riders On The Storm on VH1 and realized that they had overdone and remixed instruments and only Jim was The Doors. sucks.

Yup, that is Guy Pratt...he became an in-house (but not in the band bass guitarist) after Roger Waters fell out of the band. U can even see him in the Live8 Video, he's the guy on the left (back) with a flourescent green guitar (but he has also become grey headed, as far as he was a kid is concerned).
Talking about being outa place, despite being a good bassist, he still couldn't match the energy of Roger Waters (listen to Money again, if U even feel like contradicting). I strongly feel, even Gilmour wasn't able to spur more than a coupla decent songs, after Waters went.
Rest as they all say is Floyd'ian History...
Cheers!

Nikhil | this is probably the most subjective discussion that i inevitably get into on all the rock forums.
Dave Gilmour was different .. he ,after water's exit helped proive 2 majestic albums and was a different inspiration. for me floyd had 3 eras..barret, waters, gilmour.
I relish the first - psycedelia uncompromised (bike is the cutest song ever)
I understood the second - all bootlegs made me suffice that this was PF at its musical and cultural might.
I went through the 3rd. Step by step and grasped everythign Gilmour potrayed.
Its quite simple - they were both awesome musicians, its unfair to compare though i will always be a floyd fan than that of any of their solo careers.
PS - On An Island (heard the solo on this song) has that old PF touch, missing is the progressive brilliance.

I gladly agree on the point of three eras of Floyd...
I think Floyd has three phases, as in the opposite of a lifecycle: -
a) Barett - Or the Death...!
b) Waters - Life...!
c) Gilmour - Birth...!
Learning to Fly, is my anthem...and that wouldn't have been so, if I would have been a critic of Gilmour. I just said the Waters part, cos when ur talking bout Floyd, and bass, Water needs a mention...! agreed...?
Cheers!

He always had the biggest pic on all the album covers which he was totally against but studio execs wanted to capitalise on his good looks. He always thought that he wasn't bigger than the band but I guess the execs didn't agree ..
