Hi to everyone,
I'm so glad I pounced upon this thread. I'd like to share my dream.
I'm 24 from Kolkata. I'm mad about opening my own coaching institute/finishing school. I've chalked out every detail and idea about my would-be startup...from its name to the ads to the logo...I have full faith in my ideas. And I know people WILL come....if you give anything of quality to them...which TRULY benefits them for life.
I've seen that most spoken English institutes promise more than they deliver. And most students (which include some of my Bengali friends) coming out of such institutes find that they are still NOT able to express themselves fluently or elegantly. They fumble for the right words and eventually end up translating their native language (Bengali) word for word into English, which makes for poor English sentences. And nor are they adequately trained on accent, or on how to express everyday ideas/situations.
But on the good side, most people tend to make the same kind of mistakes. How often have you found people saying such things?
"Myself Prodipto working in..." ("I'm Prodipto working in...")
"I'm saying you na!" ("I'm telling you...")
"No person came to office.." ("No one came to office..")
"I only told you about it" ("I was the one who told you about it")
"Write on backside of paper" ("Write at the back of the paper")
"Fill up the form!" ("Fill in the form" or simply "Fill the form")
"Why you are always scolding me?" ("Why are you always scolding me?")
"Apply the buttons of your shirt!" ("Do up your shirt")
I'm on the verge of completing a comprehensive reading/audio/motivational material that I've developed to help such people. I've given a lot of stress to accent reduction, everyday English & self-esteem. I've developed the material after a lot of studying and researching....meticulously examining the kinds of errors which Indians make while speaking English.
I've immense faith in myself and my desire to help and serve people. I do not want a SINGLE girl or guy to come out of my school feeling dissatisfied or looted, which sadly is the case with most money-minting spoken English schools. They just give you cursory BPO knowledge with a dash of accent and tons of grammar rules and then thrust you into some stupid BPO.
Although my program would also benefit BPO-wannabes, it is going to equip them for LIFE.
I also have this dream to start a new magazine targeted to the health of senior citizens. It is old people who are usually most conscious of health but there are sadly no magazines which would appeal to them. What you'd simply find are health magazines with incredible models on the covers and full of sex tips....probably the last thing an elderly guy would be interested in! I really feel this is a niche waiting to be filled. I've always been interested in medicine from my childhood (touchwood!) so I already have an entire repository of the most interesting articles ready!
The only thing I do not have is: CAPITAL. And I seriously feel that you do not need an MBA to be an entrepreneur. You just need the passion.

And the drive. And yes, the money.
If theres any rich guy/girl around here, plz help me!

SERIOUSLY!!!
