What kind of feedback you need ... content or design?

@design -- u need to work on it ... fonts are not good ... images needs to be better .. footer text is not clearly readable... you need to make it a bit dark ...

menu on front page not clearly visible .... front page is similar to frontage for retail store .. so make sure it has to be BEST ..

one more advice ... don't go live unless your site is fully developed .... beta testing Ok but then again you can put it at alternative address for testing ....

Re: Entrepreneurship anybody? - 28-12-2007, 07:45 PM

hi guys this is my experience as an entrepreneur and I m just 23.... I always had a keen eye towards running my business as I hail from a business family... we had a paper board mill initially but due to severe financial crisis we had to changed our business to essential oil and aromatic chemicals trading and manufacturing...

I was in 8th standard when I visited my industry on a monthly basis.. I became fascinated by chemical technology... I always used to see my dad and uncle negotiating with people or trying to bluff something and pulling it off... I always thought to myself can I do this stuff or not.... when I was in 11th standard I started to study chemistry fulltime... read books like Finar, Solomon, March, etc in just 4 months... so my concepts were a lot better than the best of best in chemistry of my age group...

We used to manufacture many compounds without much success.... menthol, anethole, aniseed oil, thymol, menthyl actate, linalyl acetate, etc, etc, etc... but were unsuccesful to compete in the market.... I had been attending business for quite a long time then.... I thought why are we unsuccessful... we were going by already tried and tested methods.... people who were already manufacturing by the same process and we were another one in the queue... so in an already limited market if competition increases margin will go down... I started to analyze this... I thought about having some novelty in the market... so that I am head and shoulders above competition....

I then gave several unsuccesful attempts at IIT and ultimately to B.tech Biotech, as it was a new and upcoming field and business ideas would be plenty ( as the business bug had already bitten me ).... I took up memberships of several research journals and all... and started reading chemical papers as timepass.... In my 2nd semester I read a research paper by an eminent scientist from India saying he can manufacture Thymol ( which we were manufacturing from Menthone a costly raw material ) from M-cresol and Iso-Propyl Alcohol... I then tried to find out the price of the raw material that he mentioned... you would be suprised that the difference was around Rs. 200/Kg from Menthone and Thymol Price was around Rs. 600/Kg..... I thought WTF... he must be joking... I called up that scientist and talked to him... I have already read about this technology ( which he was proposing ) but never paid any attention as several people in India had tried it unsuccesfully... I thought I can sweep the competition if I can possibly manufacture this.... I talked to my dad and after a lot of convincing we fixed up a date to meet this scientist... By God's grace, we were successful and now manufacture around 200 MT annually of this product in India.... so we are the largest manufacturer in the country as well... first there were 25 industries producing Thymol in India now there are only 3....

Now I am adding another product this feburary which if successful will be the first time this technology will be introduced in our country.. so that was story... idea is novelty... after that aggressive marketing.... and also cost cutting... purchasing of raw materials... export policies... one has to have idea about every segment for a middle scale industry entrepreneur... Hope u didnt sleep through my story...

Ciao...
Kris

Hi Everybody ,

This may be my first post at this thread ,but entrepreneurship(I hope i spelled correctly) bug bitten me too .My Idea is too start an Vocabulary Quiz Industry wher we (Me and My friend...)provide services to Schools ,B-Schools, Companies and Any kNowledge based industry. We are planning to make it Online first and then make it offline on Campuses.I am planning to talk with LIMCA Record Holder on Memorizing Vocabulary to come along with us and assist us.

BTW,I have been working on Vocabulary from Last 5-6 years and ,It may sound Braggart or Pompous, was Known as "DICTIONARY" in my College .I have a passion for words and will defintely start the venture soon.My biggest concern is that I dont know the intricacies of business as I hails from a service class family and will feel pleased if anybody doing epeolatry, want to join us in our venture.

I love to get Feedback on my idea !!!!!!!!!!!!

Regards,
Junoon..............

Our Idea is to open a service industry for Intellectual Society..............As Derek O Brien (Bournvita Quiz Contest) or Giri SUbhramanium(Tata Crucible).are doing i.e. we will render our services to different Clients like Big Companies ,Big Schools like DPS,Mayo College,Stephens....who want to inculcate the importance of Word power in their students or for B-Schools in their Annual Fest by providing Different types of New Word games.............
Not ot mention We will use Visuals to Gorgonize audience and remove monotony while conducting............

The whole idea revolves round Eiditic Memory...............
