I m facing few pbms regarding the startups i m invloved in ---

I hope asswise, neo & other ll help me to pour things out ---

We are looking for 2 marketing guys .... guys who ll be very good in marketing .... we are ready to pay them gud salary + commission depending upon there performances ,,,

we are planning to use following ways to hire such candidate --

1. directly approaching MBA collesge
2. online job site
3. newspaper classified

We are not going for HR / Placement agency as they charge a lot ...

Our problem is how to convince good candidate to work with a startup when there's no guarantee that we'll be in business 4 next yr or offer any kind of career growth or exposure?

If YUO're not sure about the career growth or exposure, you'd be offering to your prospective employees then it's difficult for others to help you

Yeah I know it's difficult to convince, given the fact that Indian IT industry is still booming and the salary young lads get is like anything
it's a serious question in concern for all wannabes and startup owners in India: How to attract talent pool and sustain them

Man..if someone answers that question for me..I'm willing to work as slave labour for them

You're bestest bet is to have a vision and convince people you are hiring of that vision. Its a very very very tough job and won't happen over night. But once you get the juggernaut rolling - good things happen

Dont say that man.... although there might be a chance of you winding up early, but believe in yourself. Atleast YOU should be convinced of your dream.

You will always find some talented people who wants to work with startups.
Th learning you can have while working in startups is great lesson than working in some already established company. I know many IIM & IIT students who declined high pay boring jobs & joined some startups where Pay is low but they are sure of success & want to do something big

I agree with princeparas, but at the same time I can understand ryans problem. it's easier said than done,

I suggested my just-passed-out-IT-engrs-friends to join big-brand company instead of some startup even if I'll be with startup side... :/
I think it depends on the driving force of founder, his vision and his ability to show/convince the same vision to his prospective employees.

Usually, startup recruit persons who are already friends with the founder.
(so it'll be very difficult to get people from new-paper ads/classified that you mentioned, ryan )

grow your network in the field... join My space/ orkut join their communities...look out for programmers make friends...
Pune is a big city... & I hope can reap something out of it w/t spending $ on publishing ads etc...
haahaa check out the new thread I just started ... it's for people like us... and I am sure it's likely gonna be a success...: webmasters corner

PS: I cant question your decisions : belega toh, apun tere decision pe kaisa objection lega
muze woh sahi lage ya galat... mai kuch bol nahi sakta kaun ki it's your firm and it's your decision ...
