Seeing and acting on opportunity...
I was taught that in class...

Best example..
Bill Gates.. bought Windows.. at a dirt cheap price...
Repackaged it.. a little bit of bug fixing.. and $$$$

Yes, funding is difficult, especially so in india. Moreover, there is a growing feeling among entrepreneurs that VCs, along with their money, bring a lot of baggage and they obstruct the functioning of the company the way the founder wants to. Best option is always to raise the initial money from your savings, your friends, and other people you trust. Once you have break-even and the potential is obvious, you should not face any problems in raising further capital, regardless of your educational qualifications, MBA or not.

I've been following the thread closely since even I an an entrepreneur of sorts. One of the first things I learnt was to have a Business Plan ready. It helps you to neatly organise everything and could also show you potential drawbacks that you hadnt considered before.
If you ever go to a VC, the first thing they are going to ask is a business plan(B.P) You'd better have a really good and really strong BP or you can kiss your funding good bye. Proper planning is the first step and half the battle.
I would seriously suggest you take some time off, perhaps over the weekend, and put everything down on paper. Then pick some random friend to show it to and try and convince him/her and get her as excited as you are. If you cant do that, it means your BP is not perfect and needs some polishing.

Best of Luck!!

Thanks a ton to all u guys. I am just a little busy these days and hence get less time on the computer. I will read thorugh the wonderful links u have posted and will surely like to carry on this discussion with like minded people.

Regarding writing the business plan. Though I have written it in a word document. But iti's not written in an official manner. For that probably I will have to first look at some sample business plan and then will write my plan in a formal layout.

Once again I could like to thank u all from the bottom of my heart.

Cheers

@iwillmakeit: i'm not being rude / unsupportive, just being critical-
Haven't you still realized the value of an idea: Zilch (someone said it more decently) WHY don't you get it, a great idea may never translate into a great business, coz you have to translate it.

Even i had a couple of great ideas, but my idea that took off as a business was the most minimal of ideas, just the fact that i decided to start off with something- hypocratic it all is. ??:

Its really tough to accept that our ideas have no value, but that's mainly coz we are really proud of our idea. I'm not saying the idea is not good or anything, all i'm saying is- even something as mundane as starting a retaurant mebbe rated as a better idea than anything, if you actually implement it and pull it off.

Friend I Hope I have got ur point correct. U r trying to say that more than the idea, the implementation of the idea is important .i.e. how good u r at converting it to reality. Yes, I would totally agree with u. Now there are two things to it. One thing is that I get in touch someone who is experienced and willing to work with me, other thing is that I give it a shot myself and let's see how it turns out. I think teaming up with experineced people would be a sane idea, whaty do u say?. What's ur business venture about?

thanks
Iwillmakeit
