There is an incubation centre at IIT B and IISC, that i know of. also you should try and contact some professor at http://www.ediindia.org/default.asp .. this link is one of the first pieces of information in this thread. Thanx for u r help. I got a list of 5 incubation centers around ahmedabad and 5 other around rest of India. The easiest entry into incubation center is through B-Plan Contest. so planning to enther few B-Plan contests this yr. Right now i am starting to write the B-Plan. As far as EDI is considered its just 5 kms from our UNiv and so will visit personally during May-July. But the biggest hurdle right now is trying to identify interested like minded members and forming a good team.

I am interested to discuss my idea here.DG and other experienced junta is it ok to discuss my idea here ? I hope the idea can be brainstormed well here also i may stumble upon few interested guyz for forming a team. But there is an imminent risk of exposure. or is it recommended to discuss only in closed groups?

One thing is in a forum like this, you never know how many people are reading your inputs, there would be a large number just scanning, and so till you patent your idea, someone else can pick it up, and even Patent it , then imagine you having to pay to use your own idea. SO ..

Personally, I think that ideas are overrated. You should try to be the first to market and you have to keep providing value to the customers. As paul graham says, if ideas had any worth, there would be a marketplace to trade them.

PS:- ideas are not patentable. Implementation can be patented, that too if there is no prior art for the same.

currently i am doing my final sem. comp. engg. project at NirmaLabs at Nirma Inst. here, i am working on a marketable product. this is a nice place to prepare yourself to launch any product. but i dont know whether they will take u up as a full time incubatee right now, since ur in 3rd year.

but all the same i think u can talk to some of the incubatees here, who according to me r doing a great job. if u want, i can help u to get in touch
with them. and later on, u can talk to the authorities here.

i am not a incubatee here, but i do have similar ideas like urs.
abt the idea thing, i dont think only ideas are the central pillar of
a startup. there's much more than that to it. and ya, u need a good
team, probably 2-3 guys of similar thinking.

RagNRoll - Nirma UNiversity is just 10-15 kms from my Univ . It will be grateful if we can meet. This is my 3rd yr final sem (6th). I was planning to get be an incubatee as part of my BTP which will be in 8th sem.

I would. I am currently working in one and will leave that to join another some time soon . And I believe everybody joining PG will be joining a start-up wont they

I would and as Neo said most of us would (especially the guyz visiting this thread ).

The prob is Start-Ups usually need experienced junta and so thr is quiet some time before i make this decision
