sorry guys if u hv misunderstood me. I hv nothing against CUSAT.I was only saying that there are more deserving colleges in kerala if an IIT is to be made.
If they choose NIT or CET than they would hv to invest relatively lesser and the
progress to iit-standard will be rapid

pls remember that IIMK was started on the campus of REC and the students used to live in the M.tech/Intnl. hostels. They used many facilities frm REC.
So if REC was good enuff for an IIM the why not an IIT?

what u probly dont realise that CUSAT is probly the only institute in kerala to offer seats to outsiders(apart frm NIT,of course)...so,ask urself that whether u wud still go to CUSAT even if u cud get into CET,NIT,GEC,etc..If yes, then i apologise to all ppl here because i am drastically out of touch with the education scene in kerala!

I think he has a point. The IITs are being set up only because the CM can then gloat over it in election speeches.(this works in kerala where govts. can be brought down on education issues like suicide by the engg. student,etc.. but i doubt a CM can win polls in UP,Bihar,Rajasthan,etc.. by bringing IITs and IIMs.the ppl simply dont care).
btw, they are giving 100 cr for IISc.The FM said he wants it to turn into Harvard.Wishful thinking indeed. We all know its not the money which prevents us frm having world class institutes. Its the attitude!!
