hey..just watchin her play at the hyderabad open with her ankles and thighs all strapped up...
just hope that playing in the tournament has not agrevated her niggles..
also noticed that her serve is her weakest point

Please, Lord, let me prove that winning the lottery won't spoil me.

Is media responsible for players under performing....to some extent yes...some glaring examples :-
1) Indian Weight lifters...what happens 2 test positive and none get any medal...leave alone many don't perform to half their capability
2) Hockey team. everytime they win some god forsaken tournament, media starts creating an aura that these guys will win the world cup.
3) Cricket team....so much hype created for every tournament they play asif they are expected to win all matches...
4) Why just players...they hype even the artists....also i find this typical of indian media....when it comes to foreign news we show as if there is nothing happening in india....look at the charles wedding news....they went to extent of reporting poll results on wedding here...now what the hell is that.
5) US elections...what was that for....news channels in US don't even have a minute of footage for india...even during election there was hardly a news on it....and we go gung hoo on their election.to the extent we follow it as closely as their own people as if our entire life is dependent on it...we have psephologist sitting in a channel room and discussing the outcome.....btw foreign media always shows the bad part of india...and i have personally seen this....
6) Now why was so much ruckus created over Kareena Shahid kiss....leave people alone...media creating stories out of little things....
7) Look at the way they followed V day....aaj tak had the entire day dedicated to it..now from when did V day become a major part of the news....i don't think they even cover Diwali as much as they cover V day....Lot of people create more noise and uuhs and aahs....just to get attention...
Look at rajyavardhan rathore....he was an unknown and still is unknown after winning the medal...the main reason why he cud concentrate on what he does best is because the media was not on his hot pursuit. Gopichand looks like media fogets people who have actually won something....Anand a glaring example....but thank god they have not been biten by media bug otherwise we wud not have had a single sports person to cheer...
9) Look at our papers....they show Mr dubya with his dog on the front page...Britney spears marraige on front page, Charles the buuuudhao(charles the oldie) mariage on first page...do they not have anything relevant to india to show....

Media is a very strong tool and in india it is misused on not one but several occassion. News that are relevant go on the backburner and something which is not even worth inclusion in normal chit chat hogs limelight....

Bilkul sahi baat hai....there is no one but the media to blame for it all. These A$$holes start treating ppl who achieve something like gods.Too much adulation has never proved to b a good thing for upcoming athletes cos it takes their focus away from the game.Encourage them but dont worship them.Sar par mat chadaao yaar.
All said and done, I pray for Sania.I hope she does real well in her career and reaches the top.She definitely has the making of a grt player.Whether she will make it or break it.....well I will post abt that after the last grand slam this yr.

P.S. Sorry for the grand slam blooper

Its great to see so many non cricketing players getting so much attention these days. The news about Sania Mirza, Narain Kathikeyan and all is far better than making tennis elbow injury of Sachin Tendulkar a national tragedy.

I personally believe that Sania Mirza is a great talent, but it will take some time before she becomes a top notch player. Right now, she is in great form and going through a honeymoon period. But, she has to do something about her serve. With her current serve, i don't think she will be able to progress very far.

So, lets keep our fingers crossed and hope that she continuously improves her game and stays away from major injuries to become a truly world class player.

Guyz, Sania has already acheived the celebrity status it seems. Proof of this is clear from the news that Sania will be provided with security by the Hyderabad City Police. Security will be in the form of two gunmen who will accompany Sania wherever she goes as there is a perceived threat from stalkers. So hyderabadis, better think twice before gatecrashing Sania's Banjara Hills residence for a simple autograph.

thats exactly the problem, the media and the public is so fed up of cricket that they are always on the lookout for people who excel in other sports ( the no. of such people is pathetically low) and once they identify such a talent - with a little build up of suspense and expectation they announce the arrival of the person to the public - and immediately the person is on frontpages - a national celeb- with endorsements et all. but then what happens to the sport - it naturally suffers. somehow a few cricketers (being experienced as they are) are able to balance their bank accounts and public image and on field heroics - but that is an art that takes time to master and by thrusting a young face into public domain so soon and so swiftly - the media is more than damaging that sport

Are u sure media is fed up with cricket...don't think so...just see at how much coverage is given to the pak series....plus u have shows every sunday in which the sidhu sahab throws his fundas and undasss....

They analyse cricket as there is not other sport....i remember in one match that was played in Kolkatta they went to extent of taking int from the road side pan wala...

Also people are not fed up...remember during world cup they were doing all sorts of pujas and what not....

well since there is nothing else to discuss (in sports) the news shows have no other option but to talk endlessly bout cricket - but this is surely gonna reduce once the likes of narain and sania excel
