As for BPO,we pride over wage-leverages that we give.We shld actually be ashamed of it.Why do our labuir cost less than a white mans labour?If we are so fond of globalism and what not,let our standards of working culture,wages,safety measures,compensation to environ-loss etc all come to a level where our labour can no longer be exploited for low wages.when ppl no longer want to desert thier homes for a chance to earn extra there..where enterprenial and brain drain no longer exists.

Hope we no longer remain cyber coolies for much longer!!!

That, I doubt, is going to happen - atleast in the near foreseeable future.
The prime reason for this - as I see it - is the huge population - majority of which lives in utter poverty and is ready to do menial tasks for the most piddly amounts - just so that they may get some rags to wear and some scrap to eat.
Add to that - the corruption at all levels of society - and you have a problem which is going to take a concentrated effort on the part of enlightened youth (like you and me?) - to implement an administration such that we take care of not being corrupt ourselves, and also see to it that our immediate juniors are corruption free. That, our juniors will take care of their juniors and so forth. Ofcourse - that implies that at the top of this chain is a person/group which is corruption free in itself.

I had/have pretty interesting debates on this topic (corruption/population growth) with friends (at work) - yet - I do not see anything coming out of it. I hope some of us have aspirations to get into politics and do a thorough revamp of the system(I have aspirations - but am too lazy to do anything about it - atleast just yet :P).

Our population is our human resource ...just like any other resource.
If harnessed and developed well, we might be better off with it than w/o it.
Look at the huge market => more foriegn and domestic investments to tap into this market=> more FDI and funds inflow=> better revenues for govt=> better allocations in social sector=> better lives to the ppl.

Add to this , more the investment => better industrialisation(for the primary or secondary investment)=> more the development of the industry's region => better job and buisness opprtuites for ppl in that region=> better lives to the ppl.

Also , the NRI factor , a la the Chinese experiment ...where a huge share of their FDI inflow is from Non -resident Chinese!

A resource is a resource ,only if we know how to develp and use it.
Else someone else will take advantage of ur resources....
Like the English did for the gold and diamond mines in South Africa...and 300 years on ...SA is still learning to stand on its own!!!
