Well lemme introduce myself, i m a 6 yr old dedicated fan( forget PSPO ) of jagjit singh...

To continue with the mehfil here are a few shers from a masterpiece..

Mohabbat mein nahin hai farq jeene aur marne ka
usi ko dekh ker jeete hain, jis kaafir pe dum nikle

Khuda ke waaste parda na kaabe se utha zalim
kahin aisa na ho ke yahan bhi wahi kaafir sanam nikle

hazaaron khwahishe aisi(IIMs) ke her khwahish pe dum nikle
bahut nikle mere armaan ( CAt 01,03) lekin phir bhi kam nikle

Interesting thread...
used to listen to jagjit singh mostly ..but off late i feel most of the shayri in his ghazals are too shallow...
had a cassette "face to face" ..beautiful songs...
remeber a few lines from one of my fav songs in it..called "sheik ji"
arz kiya hai..
"aap kyun hai sari duniya se juda...
aap bhi dushman mere ban jaaiye..(too good)
another one..
"uljhane duniya ke suljha lenge hum..
aap apni zulf ko suljhaiye.."
any feminists reading this ...wud kick my arse )

also hv the mirza ghalib cassette (from the gulzar tv serial tht use to come on DD ..*ing Naseeruddin shah..) cool sngs in it..
including "hazaaron khwahishen".....

hmm..lots of memories flowing in..another dd serial called "neem ka ped" ..(*ing pankaj kapoor ) had this title song..one of the best ive hrd..
"aavazon ke baazaron me ..
khamoshi pehchane kaun..
mooh ki baat sune har koi..
dil ki dard ko jaane kaun.." (wah wah)..

always felt pankaj udhas ..sooooo boring..i prefer hariharan (esply live)..
for his artistry and josh while singing...
"sakiya jaaye kaha hum tere maikhane se..
shehr ke shehr nazar aati he veerane si.." he puts in something xtra to the song evrytime...

phew...long post..not over yet...
also real fida over the late 70s early 80s film songs ..singers like..talat aziz,bhupinder,jagjit singh....
songs from movie masoom ..
"huzur is kadar bhi na itra ke chaliye..
khule aam aanchal na lehra ke chaliye...)
dunno the movie ..a song by bhupinder.
"dil dhoondhta he phir wohi fursat ke raat din.."

GR8 one,absolute masterpiece,very few people remember this ghazal,
its taken from the album INSIGHT(if i've not forgotten)

again i second Mr. Anderson.....i like hariharan's one more ghazal,for its opening stanza.....

shahar me kam nahi aankhon se pilane wale.....

ps: hey guys ,do u get all what is said in MIRZA GHALIB GHAZALS,
pretty heavy vocab used,try to understand....man,they'll make u think...
