1)Try to create a directory/folder named "con" in any version of windows.anywhere ..in any drive...hey i mean hardrive...a c wht hapens

2)In Internet Explorer 6, if you type in "about:Mozilla" and press go, see what do you get

2nd one: Does nothing, I mean absolutely nothing... It displays an action cancelled page. Dear, write "about:anything_u_want" still it shows the same page

Anyway, these are simple easter eggs, deliberately created in most of the softwares, just to give some excitement to us dumb users...

try typing rand(100) in MS Word and see what happens... Btw, to be precise its actually not an easter egg. Check it out!!!

well it opens up a blue coloured screen in my IE n a page called res://mshtml.dll/about.moz

Ya thats not funny... Its not meant to be. The MS guys have dicumented it some where, so that disqualifies it from being an Easter Egg. They say its useful to test a template... Like filling it with random text to see, how it looks like... HUH

wel there has been a lot of speculations also bein made for Easter eggs...
me not the rite person to rule tht..bt had some shat with a cousin who wrks @Microsoft.DALLAS.....and according to him.....

Easter eggs r those unfound or say...not easily traced stuff...which the coders has left for the customers to find themselves...in the OS...

for example:

For Windows XP, If you look in your "My Computer\C:\WINDOWS\" In this folder, after all other folders, you find a text file named "0". If you open it, nothing will be in there, hence the filename "0". Another thing would be a file called "Clock". It's an AVI file. It can open it in Windows Media Player. It's a very simple and plain animation.

These 2 files, were probably left in by the Microsoft Programmers as Easter-Eggs for anyone that could find them.

and yea...abt the yea, a blue screen but why would you get a blue screen? does that remind you of the blue screen of death that MS gives for fatal exceptions?

it cud b coz Mozilla is a competitor of Internet Explorer

con, prn, aux, clock$ were special "device" filenames in DOS.

con stood for "console". if u remember the command "copy con shri.txt", it meant copystuff from the "console" to the text file.

if u use unix u would recognise these files as being similar to the "/dev/" contents


"copy shri.txt prn " will print the file to the standard printer port.

So, for compatibily, these filenames are still disallowed in windows.

hence its not an easter egg, just a vestige of teh good old days.
