Next IIM in Shillong !!!!!

Surprise of surprises....the next IIM is likely to be put up in shillong...Rajasthan Patrika ,Jaipur edition reported today...its a front page news....

There's a limit to the Govt.'s intention of creating regional balances! ... wonder whether Shillong has a good airport running.. kinda sure trains wouldnt be there... even Indore is very poorly connected from South...

No faculty would ideally want to settle there... it'd be interesting to see how the show goes!

Just a thought: I've always believed Hyderabad is a very good choice for the next IIT/IIM... considering the development, no IIT/IIM being there etc. ISB is anyway very different...

Another decision by government with folded eyes without considering the pros and cons. As already seen by the development of IIT guhawati, the government should put in enough thoughts before making any decision in such a hap hazard manner. Just by making one IIM the eastern part wont be developed. There is much more to it which is required for the upliftment of a state.

Waise i would say that Gurgaon would be a suitable place for the next IIM.

You see...........the government has nt confirmed anything.....So let s wait and watch. But If they have chosen Shillong as the destination for IIM no 7 ....They sure would have to work hard to make it a success...............I feel rather increasing number of IIMs...If they could just increase the intake at IIM I and IIM K ...It would help for the time being...
But that s just my opinion....

wats the government upto..do they even think b4 doing something?? it doesnt make any sense to create a new IIM in Shillong.personally i wud never go there even if it was IIM..

why dnt they just increase the intake in IIM K & I...havent we seen how IIT Guwahati has shaped up..

neways i think it more of rumour than nething concrete.i wonder how many studs will actually wanna go and study at shillong?? and which prof will like to grace the serene but lonely valleys of shillong??
on second thoughts look at the brighter side finally we'll have an iim where we'll have less of PADHAI-LIKHAI and more of MASTI and of course u can always make a foreign trip at ur convinience to our neighbouring country with the help of...... u know whom and foreign placements might increase

Hey guys... i know Shillong is far and for many people in non north eastern India "Dangerous", but it doesn't mean that an IIM cannot be successful there. In case you've not been there its one of the most panaromic places in India.

I know most people in our country like to live their lives without realising that there is something called the north eastern part of India, its been neglected by every government and has been the cynosure of supposed terrorist activity. Please be aware that India is not just Bangalore and Delhi and Mumbai, its also Dispur and Bongaigaon and Shillong.

There is a need to ensure a level playing field in the field of education and a very good way of doing this is to start an IIM in the North East. Its a great idea and the govt. has my full support. Way to go.
