Hi people
One of my friends is looking for a job. She already has a year of experience in the ITES Industry . So when she asked me about recruitment agencies , well, i realised that i dint know a thing about them .
I did some research on the net . Found out that there are primarily three large recruitment firms.
1. People One
2. Ma Foi
3. ABC Consulting
Yet, i don't know which of them are good and what verticals they operate in . Some people told me that people one is good for ITES and IT while Ma Foi for Management Jobs. Whats your say on this issue ?
how effective is it to go to these agencies ? Which of these companies operate in IT, ITES, Finance, Banking , Engineering etc etc. ? Veterans who have gone through this process of going to recruitment firms .... please contribute. I m sure this would help all those people looking for a job whatever be their field.
Looking forward to some good interaction.

Hi,
To be frank, I do not know much about recruitment agencies, but I do have a suggestions for those looking for job in BPO/ITES sector.
1. If you are a fresher out of college, identify which BPO sector suits your temperament - medical transcription, call center, IT helpdesks...There a few training centers catering to these sectors. Join them, you can pay the fees in instalments if you negotiate. Start searching for a job from day one of training. If a reputed company selects you, stop your training and join the company. Usually reputed companies provide training from the scratch. Remember, you are joining the training institute to test the waters, gain contacts and info of the particular BPO sector in the place you are residing.
2. If you already have some amount of experience, join any BPO company dealing with your specialty for whatever pay. Start applying for jobs elsewhere too in the interim. Don't wait for a fairy to hand you the job on the platter. Put your resumes on Naukri and jobsahead and keep your fingers crossed. Check your mails regularly. Who knows, lady luck may smile on you. Just don't sit idle.
From what I have heard from others, consulting firms can help you better if you meet them in person; if you just post your resumes in their websites, it is generally of no use. For ITES, try peopleone consultants. Hope this helps.

Hey, try HAVOC consultants .. they are based in Dadar, near TT.
I have heard that they provide good opportunities esp to freshers in Gujarat and Maharashtra, thats their main region... but they charge 300 bucks as one time fees and 1 months salary in two installments after they give u a job

Well, in my opinion, especially a fresher, one does not have to go through a recruitment agency. Right now in the market, jobs are abundant, and yes, there is stiff competition. Try on your own, you will get one...why pay money to consultants...just my opinion.
May be you can approach a consultant after you have gained about a year or two of experience..cos then there would be some added value to your resume too..and you can get into good companies that way.
Havoc consultants - these guys were bombarding my mailbox day after day with emails requesting 300 bucks, 2 photographs for the last to days. I am not too sure about this, but the recruitment agencies usually collect money from the company they are recruiting for. If they are taking money from freshers, that too one month's salary...something seems fishy here.

Well pooran, Hovoc wallas havea business to do too!
A friend of mine, a fresh commerce graduate got into HSBC bank in Ahmedabad with 15000 pm salary ...
He did not mind "fishing" out 7500 bucks over 2 months ... because it was a confirmed job!

[shadow=red:25c4065e3f]SHYGUY[/shadow:25c4065e3f] | Wow :P Wow :P Wow :P ..Now, everybody who wants a job...stand in queue.. I am really happy for your friend.
Now, seriously speaking, recruiting consultants also take 2 or 3 months' salary from the employers too, and in your friend's case, HSBC bank has also, in all probability, paid a lot of money to the consultants. Though recruiting consultants do take registration fees from the candidates, they do not take money (one month salary) from the candidates due to either ethical/moral reasons or as a matter of convention. I am not trying to comment/judge anything about any particular agencies' business practices; I am leaving this to the readers.
What I am trying to say here is that there is no dearth of equally good recruiting agencies who can get you an equally good job without you having to pay anything else than the registration fee, if any. Remember, there are also variables like your academic performance, work experience....which have to be taken into account.

hey
If a fresher is looking for a job in IT, ITES then its very simple these days. all you need to do is drop in a resume at their office and they ll call you for a test. Or you should probably go to a IT hub like b'lore and hunt for a job for about 2 weeks. If you are good u are sure to get a job.
I think its only in the other sectors other than IT, that its not so easy to get a job. eg: banking, finance jobs in a mnc arer not so easily got. I tink thats when the agencies would be useful .
