Must say, ive been pissed off with you a couple of times.. Esp the day i left a on the **** thread.. and u had your say about it. That was almost 1.5 years back.. The forum has come a long way since. Some may say that the avg quality of posts has decreased. but a post form subbu. always a must-read.

Ive been off the forum for a month now.. i come back and see posts like this one.. Makes me wonder if can ever stop checkin pagalguy.com/cat.

The Story so far…

Wow.. can U believe it!! This is my 1000th post!!! Phew… wonder what all I have penned in here!! But then again, I couldnt think of anything else to mark my 1000th post than what I have felt being on PG for soooo long!!!

Firstly, I need to thank Allwin for creating sucha beautiful place. Its almost like a home online. Maybe I feel a lot more to this place becos, I am close to PG & a lot of junta around here!!! Yes Subbu, being here is indeed an eye opener… I wasnt really sure whether I wanted to be a mod in the first place. But then again, as we have known Subbu & PG, they cant be wrong

Junta, all of u out here have been amazing in one or the other way. Yes, I am extremely proud of being a mod on this forum. Hehehe.. sure, it gives u a lot of respect even offline I was made a sectional mod in Jan something & progressed to a full mod in March something. The W-Mod

Being a part of this community is something special for me. But being a mod has been even greater pleasure. Have received innumerable mails asking me whys & whynots… frayed tempers.. oh yeah!! Being a W-Mod has been weird experience though… Have seen ppl getting back to me becos I am a girl… Tsk Tsk.. ya, it sounds funny.. but guess when u lock a few threads & reprimand somebody in the public, their ego is def hurt!! But I want to reiterate to all u guys – There is nothing absolutely personal about this!! I might never see u for the rest of ur life nor mine… But heck, we mods have a job to do.. to keep this place clean!! And that we will…

Also, have received a lot of PMs & IMs for the wonderful work that has been put up here by mods & pg. Thanks a lot, its nice to see a lot of ppl agree with the decisions out here… hey, it has to be that way.. we are a community!! But one thing that really amazes me is – when something bad is commented upon an oldie, others just pounce on the instigator & almost push him/ her out of the forum… That’s speaks a lot about ppl here!!

As Subbu mentioned the PG meets never cease to amaze me.. Have u heard of any offline group meeting… all over India… & trying to do some voluntary work for the lesser privileged ones… I sincerely hope our community service picks up a lot of more initiative with lot more members…

As a mod, I am here for abt 6 months… But am FAMOUS No, I am not being arrogant but I guess ppl see the kind of person thro the posts. Everywhere, I go, somebody on pg meets me.. I am like “I am Simba” & they are smiling awkwardly. Always loved to be known as Simba.. now I am.. whos complaining But still have to deal with messages like “wanna be friends” & “asl”

Otherwise, the feeling has been almost same as that of Subbus. Dealing with ppl.. trying to tell them..what is what etc etc.. its been a learning exp for me. Frankly, when I see my old posts, I still cant believe that its me. Being here has added a lot more years to my understanding of ppl & their emotions. I still can remember the first few times I posted on the forum.. wondering anybody would read .. wondering anybody would laugh at me.. all such stuff!! And when I became a mod, I didn’t want to step on ppl so much & used to wonder what the other mods & admin thought I was doing… hehehe.. dealing with Anil (Maverick) has been a great experience in itself..Oldies will understand But have known him over the year now… I can see him as a much better person… more matured… & indeed, we are good pals now Anil, as a mod, u were amazing!!

PG (admin) has been the person I have always known him to be… guess he would never change!! & I respect him more than anybody And ofcourse, Subbu is the ruler… we all try to step in here & there.. but lo, Subbu comes… puts his BIG POST with a myriad of BIG WORDS… Nobody dares to respond to that… Chandoo is a safe person… we get along well too.. Chandoo & Anil have been good at locking threads .. good job guys!! I never really had so much of a problem when Chandoo & Anil were around… they were GOOD at their jobs… .. & once in a while used to feel guilty for not acting as a mod with pgz scaring me that he would throw me out

Now-a-days, I consciously try to be online … we are growing … & Mods need to be here more…

Now, heres our Akshat .. Seems to be doing good… promotion must be enroute Now, many ask me which CAT am I looking at I am not looking at any CATs… then why the hell am I moderating this forum Who knows It is weird that a person who will prolly never write CAT is moderating a CAT forum… But life sure is weird guys

I 've been staring at the screen for the last 10 minutes trying to think of something intelligent n smart to write to congratulate u guys. Especially after the supperbly amazing posts by Subbu, PGzee and Simba.

But i cant think of anything better than bowing to u all! :bowing in reverence to all u mods n admin:

U guys have done a FANTABULOUS job! I have seen plenty of forums but trust me this is the BEST and the cleanest of all. Thanks to u folks!

for those who wanna stick to the community .. it always feels good when posts like these turn up .. Abt old times, abt Modding, abt Anil

for one most important reason which makes this place stand out .. culture.. the way it has been nurtured by PG & the Mod team.. is great.. As PG mentioned .. how many online forums can claim of turning online aquanitances to offline, real world community service initiatives. I have had a chance to meet few amazing people because pf PG meets... Met Subbu on a couple of those..

sidenote : Gosh .. I stil feel utterly frustrated on having missed Bangalore All India PG meet earlier this year...

this place has grown well in past coupla years.. we have a lots of regular contributors.. MODs' have established excellent pedigree ... seems like certain set of processes have automatically matured .. I guess there was a time when sudden deluge of users threatened the overall quality & culture of the forum. but that has been handled . courtesy selfless work of ppl like Anil, SUbbu , Chandoo , Simba & PG ofcourse..


this years batch of PGites going into all Top Schools of India are doing their bit by writing abt life on the other side of fence.. all in all .. feels place has reached that 'critical mass' stage where only way to go is UP!

what future plans PG ?

one thing be sure .. the pleasant experience of staying on board has made sure that I shall be hooked on forever although the level of activity will keep fluctuating depending upon professional & personal circumstances..

On a serious note, posts such as Simbas' make old timers return to the forum...many of the old timers are just quiet...

Guess I can also consider myself belonging to the coterie of "Old Timers" who realized that CAT or MBA related stuff is not the only thing which makes one come back to the forum! As Capreal26 put it Professional and personal circumstances permitting (in my case more of the former ) I will be a regular out here Needless to say the mods are doing a stellar job and selfless job. Nothing could have elicited so striking an encomium from everyone if not for the variety and the style with which each moderator responds to a thread! More often than not I read the sure-to-be-locked threads just to see how the moderators respond whoever gets to it first [ ofcourse when Anil was there with his 24/7 connection other mods didn't have much of a chance ]

With respect to locked threads,

PG a.k.a Allwin : Has this "no nonsense" "A is A" style of writing and dismissing off threads in a manner which nobody can cavil at! And been here for the past 1.5 yrs and nothing has changed Polite,firm and sometimes peremptory and sometimes diplomatic. Keep it up d00d..

uRmad a.k.a Subbu : Has the "Oh-no-where-do-these-guys-crop-up-from-sigh" style of writing which sometimes has a philosophical(?) overtone ( which I personally enjoy! ) But should admit has a lot of patience in explaining why a thread was locked. Caviar to the General?!

Anil a.k.a Maverick : Another chap who hardly needs an introduction. Polite,passionate and no nonsense mod. Ofcourse I am kidding abt one of the qualities And am sure lot of the old timers here do miss his acerbic comments! Lets face it sometimes a spade has to be called a spade....

Simba a.k.a i-am-still-not-sure-how-to-spell-her-name : Guess being the only W-Mod does make her one of the exclusive members out here But haven't seen the lioness roaring much...atleast not yet!

Chandoo a.k.a Mango : Perhaps the only moderator who locks the thread with the inevitable " "! Did I hear someone say "the smiling assassin"?

Akshat a.k.a TheAkshat : Guess he hasn't been stretched as yet as in the last month or so the forum seems to be pretty much self moderated. But with the mockcats happening the activity in the chitchat section is quite dormant...once the CAT is over watch out mate! And remember you have quite an illustrious ppl to live up to the expectations of being a mod of PG.com! Besto man..

There did seem a time where the quality of posts( and topics) left a lot to be desired but things are getting better now! Still miss interacting with a lot of oldtimers...some of them seem to have disappeared into oblivion! All in all this is just the beginning...Rock on PGites!
