Season 2 is more closer and better. Rajasthan Royals and Punjab at the bottom. Hopefully they can win there next matches and further complicate the situation

This should be a good practice for Indian team for 20-20 WC

Re: IPL Season 2-2009 Discussion - 22-04-2009, 09:57 PM

The real scintillating IPL T20 match was shown by the Hyderabad Deccan Chargers, and mainly by Adam Gilchrist and Rohit Sharma... The impact Gilchrist made was immediate and huge. In the first two overs, bowled by Praveen Kumar and Dale Steyn, Gilchrist scored 26 runs. The field setting was changed 6 times in a span of 9 balls.....

Gilchrist's 71 off 45 deliveries, and Rohit's 52 off 30, left a hapless Bangalore Royal Challengers 185... There was a poor start by Jesse Ryder, who was bowled duck by Fidel Edwards...

The drama is not yet over..... Dravid hitting 48 of 27 balls(which includes 2 massive sixes) and Kohli hitting 50 of 32 balls.... led the platform for a nerve-breaking chase. But, it is finally Deccan Chargers charged with 2 wins and Royal Challengers imbued with 2 losses.. Cheers to DC and all the best to RCB.

RD is looking quite focussed and looks determined to prove a point...Team has a pretty potent bowling attack steyn would be my man and praveen kumar, ryder also could prove quite a handful in these overcast conditions. my favorites in the absense of DD and MI
They have good players, but they need to sort their top-order out. It has failed in all the three matches, making it tough for the likes of Dravid and KP to catch up.

RCB fell short by 20 odd runs despite great innings by RD and Virat Playing Ross Tayler would have helped.

Praveen Kumar's shots were entertaining though, full dhoni-ishtyle - jor lagake hayyesha

Although the DC's have looked good as a unit this season what i feel is that they still need to strengthen their middle order. Apart from Gilly,Gibbs and Rohit sharma none of the others have looked comfortable. They already have a decent bowling attack and if their middle clicks it can probable ensure them a semi-final birth atleast.

The Royal Challengers tried to put a good fight. Alas!! it seems 'The Wall' is trying to tell the world and Dr. Mallaya that he can still play the form of the game and he is not a Test batsman. Dr Mallaya must be pulling his hair as what does he need to do make sure either of his teams do well.(Force India & RC's )

Mallya is one sad man.
But, there doesn't seem any consistency in Kp's captaincy. Pichhli match mein Praveen Kumar se open karvaya, aur aj 7 down.

My predictions for team changes..
Steyn out(seems strange but steyn's been a disappointment)... Boucher in
Kallis out... Merwe in

The problem with RCB is that they have a lot of foreign players and little Indian talent. This is sure to cost them.

And, probably Katrina also in to boost some morale and distract the opposition.

Is there any forecast for rain tomorrow??

Van Der MErwe needs to play. Spinners have been doing well in the tournament so far and Merwe proved himself to be a decent bowler against the Aussies, and he can bat as well. He merits a chance. I would take off Kallis and play Merwe. Ryder merits 1 more chance. If he fails again, bench him.

Yeah tohtally agree.... one thing which is necessary (need not be sufficient though) is the top order ( interchangeable with openers) firing. Last year the successful teams were
Rajasthan Royals- openers Smith and Asnodkar made gave good starts continuously.
Delhi Daredevils- Sehwag and Gambhir (and i rest my case here).
Kings XI - Shaun Marsh was the find of the tournament
Chennai Super Kings - had Hayden (Raina and Hussey) at the top initially and chennai got off to 4 of 4 wins start

and if the team management tries to get smart and play Praveen Kumar as an opener it is gonna backfire ( and mind u kumar hit some huge sixes yesterday against the chargers at the death).. y tinker with a winning formula..So for the BRC it is imperative that Ryder and uthappa should open and score......With RDX playing like a dream ( I guess he seems to have got offended with people calling him Rahul DRAWvid ...man loved his batting yesterday) and Kohli alomst always providing that support BRC has a pretty strong middle order...

Re: IPL Season 2-2009 Discussion - 23-04-2009, 11:11 AM

Its a clash of the powerhouses today : CSK vs DD. Both teams have a good mix of Local & intl players. CSK has Haydos at the top, a strong middle order in Dhoni, Freddie, Raina & Badri,Morkel. Bowling though, is an area of concern for them. There's Freddie, Murali but nobody to back 'em up. Morkel's not been in great form with the ball & Joginder/Balaji don't exactly inspire a lot of confidence.
DD, to use what has become a cliche to descirbe the VS-GG combo, has the best opening pair in the world. ABD is in pretty good form but the others aren't great. This is something teams can capitalize on IF they can make early inroads. Bowling looks pretty strong with the likes of McGrath & Vettori. Plus, you have Sangwan, YoMahesh who are decent back up bowlers. All in all, it looks to be a mouth watering contest !

You can either agree with me,or you are wrong.......
