Fantastic Start to the IPL... I think this is going to be a much more interesting and closely fought tournament than last time.
MI and RCB couldnt have asked for a better start. Both teams look strong enough to enter the semis. Somehow I think Rajasthan Royals is going to have it tough this time. The batsman are more suited to Indian conditions. Wouldn't be surprised if they recalled Mohd Kaif
Coming back to the league how many here would have had Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble in their teams Waiting for the points to be updated to check my position in the league

So we have the two finalists from the last season defeated in their first games.
MI's victory was a team effort. Almost everyone contributed. CSK played well but their bowlers leaked too many runs in last 5 overs.
RR appeared to me an over-confident bunch. Although they bowled pretty well to restrict RCB to 133, their batsmen threw away their wickets thanks to some awful shot selections.
It may have been an upset for some but the two teams that won today really played better cricket.
The story so far...
CAT 08 : 96.xx percentile
Calls : IIFT, IMT, MICA, SIBM, SCMHRD, TISS, XIMB
Converts : SCMHRD
Here I come again...
CAT 09 : 94.4

It is clearly evident after today's results that this year's edition is going to be totally different from the last season.
We only saw the batsmen having sound techniques score runs today. No free flowing sixes at will, no 200 odd runs games. Both the games were pretty low scoring as per the last year standards. Nice to see bowlers coming into the picture now.
It was already discussed by many that how Indian players would take some time to adapt to the conditions. We could see many of the players actually struggling today.
Chasing under the lights in SA is always a challenge. I don't see many teams chasing even the modest totals successfully under the lights. So toss will play a huge role in night games this season.

Calls : IIFT, IMT, MICA, SIBM, SCMHRD, TISS, XIMB

not all pitches would be like this one, SA also has really good batting tracks like the jo'berg, etc. cape town is famous as low scoring venue in the country n also the overcast conditions today (though its going to be same thru out the tournament). i wonder y they preferred cape town as the opening day venue n had 2 low scoring matches in the start....not the kind of first impression expected....
