Its a form which you can demand in polling booth, just to write a complaint that u came here to vote but since you are not aware of so and so MP or particular candidate you do not want to waste your vote.
You can demand explaination from that candidate.
It happens when candidates take up new constituencies, therby people also dnt recogniz his/her work and they just vote on parties name.
Anyone having more info on this ..please share with all of us..

@no.1bakar.. Whats your name. And what kind of poll is this. does it reveal the identity of voters, or hides that. I think less people will vote if it reveals.. Kindly mention that too..
rest is all fine.. Its a nice thread , expecting more to come in..

Ah...the big daddy of all elections around the world

But I still haven't recieved my Voter's ID card

Lousy bureaucracy

Let see how the promise of "NO voter card but you'll have ur name on the voter list" holds true

NOTA is desperately needed

I am furious.

Congress Manifesto promises reservations for Muslims in education and jobs. First it was OBC, now it is minorities. Congress party should be called Quota party.

Also they have populist promises like rice at Rs.3 per kg. What stopped them from giving it at that price for the last 5 years?

I bet these low prices etc are fake, pre-poll promises..

the rising public debt (& hence fiscal deficit) will make sure that these populist promises remain paper promises... do u think any more generous, foolish subsidies are possible when are our credit ratings are threatened 'coz of the huge debt of our govt & fiscal mismanagement

But yes, the only thing that will be implemented from thr manifesto is the quota for minorities & pvt sector reservations....

I don't see any problem in populist schemes like rice/wheat at Rs. 3 per kg. But if you're promising them, at least deliver.

They are promised to families below the poverty line. No harm in that. No GDP rate/economic stimulus is worthy if a government cannot afford to provide food to its people. To hell with all the economists who have started arguing about the impact it will have on food subsidy.

What freaks me out is that it is still not content with the reservations(49%) and wants to stretch it further by accommodating the minorities as well. Oh, it promises all this 'without prejudice to the existing reservations for SCs, STs and OBCs.'

I want the NDA to go a step further and promise rice/wheat at Rs. 2 per kg.

Varun Gandhi made communal remarks and then denied making these statements and claims his voice has been doctored in the recordings.
Well he is getting more and more familiar to Indian Politics.
The list of Congress allies deserting the UPA alliance is growing longer. After SP, RJD, MDMK, TRS, PDP and LJP, it was PMK. The alliance which had 15 members in 2004 is now left with Congress, DMK, JMM and NCP in the name of big players.

Re: Elections in INdia 2009 (DemoCrazy) - 30-03-2009, 11:35 AM

Hi PUYs... My name is Rahul and am happy to see that atleast some people are posting on this forum (according to me should be more active or may be PG has set high standards so expecting too much ).

This year there are about 43 million first time voters (thanks to amazing campaigns like jaago re). It makes me really proud and happy to see that so many youngsters or "youth" is voting this time. Yes, we have started to wake up now.

From wat i am seeing is that people are being very defensive and may be do not have a clear idea of whom to vote. The message i'd like to spread through this post is that weigh your options before you vote. Please do not go with a preconceived notion like "since my dad is voting for this party i should also do the same". See the parties through the same paradigm and vote.

Actually wen i started to write the post i wanted to tell people why vote for a "certain" party, but then i thought may be it'll hurt the sentiments of some people and there might be some mud slinging. But i'd still disclose that i would definitely like Dr. Manmohan Singh to lead our country for atleast one more term.

Can't stop myself from writing but would definitely like to be a part of some healthy discussion at this forum (read why congress or why BJP types).

Cheers,
Rahul

lol.. Whats an election debate without some mud slinging.

Even I was impressed by Manmohan Singh's resume once.

But I fail to understand how the dream team comprising of
1. Manmohan Singh
2. P. Chidambaram
3. Montek Singh Ahluwalia

let the fiiscal deficit levels reach a record high.

I support BJP for these reasons

1. States ruled by the BJP have seen maximum development and minimum hooliganism in the last 5 years. Contrary to what the media says or tries to project. Even in the flagship schemes of the central government, those states have done well accorging to Central Govt. reports. Will try to dig up the link.

2. It does not promise reservations on the basis of caste and religion. I don't want to see the day when my sons and daughters would fight for a 5 percent reservation for the general category.(christians, muslims, hindus, lower castes, upper castes etc.... reservations have been promised for all the permutations and combinations of the above 5 categories by some or the other political party.)

3. Security to an extent should/would be taken care of. Won't delay executing a convicted terrorist for fear of losing a particular votebank. Afzal Guru is one. Kasab will be the second one. His chargesheet has 10000 pages with statements from 200 witnesses. Was this really needed??? Couldn't it have been swifter than this?

Seems nobody is willing to participate.

Re: Elections in INdia 2009 (DemoCrazy) - 31-03-2009, 12:46 AM

Its Election time.Clearly the Indian political league has taken over the Indian Premier League as Cricket has to move to South Africa now.Though it’s a bit disappointing but better safe than sorry.(The concerns are genuine when we don’t even have enough security forces to guard elections with looming threat of terrorism)

Now talking about the Elections,as a voter we have three choices broadly in front of us,namely :
United Progressive Alliance(UPA,Congress the leader)
National Democratic Alliance(NDA,BJP the leader)
Third Front(Left parties are the mainstay)

The following factors can influence voters when they cast their votes for the 543 seats of the 15th Lok Sabha, from 16 April to 13 May:

1.The win on the Diplomacy front of the UPA(Pak accepting its soil used for terror). When NDA was in power and attack on parliament happened, all it did was to mobilise forces in operation Parakaram, which resulted in nothing but waste of money.

2.The strong will of Congress led to Indo-US Nuclear Deal coming into effect.Though the foundation of this deal was laid by the NDA.

3.The unemployment is an issue with 5 Lakh jobs lost in India.Mostly it can be blamed on world recession, but people need solutions from our leaders.

4.The prices of food commodities have remained high for most part of the rule of UPA and they are still high though we are staring at Deflation.(Some say its just Disinflation). My mother says price rise was mostly never an issue when NDA ruled.

5.The BJP has raised its communal head again with Varun Gandhi's hate speech and Hindutva being an issue. Now,it may work in their favour but on the moral grounds BJP has lost already in my point of view.On the other hand Congress works all out to introduce caste base quotas and minority appeasement!

6.Everyday the semantics of politics is changing in India.BJD has left NDA.Laloo and Ram Vilas Paswan are virtually fighting against congress in Bihar. So,is Samajwadi Party in UP.PMK has also left UPA.The old partners of NDA like Jayalalita and TDP are moving towards the Third Front!!!!

7.There are too many candidates for the post of Prime Minister.Advani and Manmohan Singh are the front runners. But you never know with Mayawati,Sharad Pawar,Prakash Karat and even Deve Gowda lining up for the post. Now the voters have to keep in mind that who is most trust worthy and able among them.

8.Development is a key issue as we have already seen how Sheila dixit came to power in Delhi and Shiv Raj Chauhan in MP purely on the development plank. The voters are waking up to the performance of the government.

9.Lastly,a stable Govt at the centre is a must.Because if it’s a khichdi Govt then no one can take a stand. The regional aspirations should not over rule the National agenda. This is the key. So,even if a regional party candidate has done well, you may want to vote for a national party x because you want to see it in power and making national policies.

Above were the issues that randomly came to my mind.If you have some more then do tell me as I may cast my precious vote this time.I hope you do the same
