That's rightly said by you. Sensex surge of 2100 in few minutes pts clearly shows that how well this govt is welcomed bu India Inc.

I think the sensex would have surged that much even if congress was not there..
Spoke to some brokers, they said that the reason behind this is the absence of LEFT.. The markets would have surged even if NDA was going to win..
I don't think this is the right thread, but not a single order got executed from my side.. The trading took only for 30 seconds.. and the jump was 2100 points.. First time ever.. good signs to come..

I think there are 2 main reasons for the surge in the sensex:
1)Non interference of the left for the next 5 years.
2)Continuity of the pro-reforms PM in the form of Dr.Manmohan Singh.

Hi Puys, I have written a small article. Kindly accept it. I ain't a professional writer. So mistakes are bound to be there. The views are my own. Kindly pardon me on my grammar and content.

Elections 2009: A Perspective

So much of it happened in the past few weeks when elections to the 543 seats of the Lok Sabha or The Lower House took place. These were the 15th Lok Sabha elections which ultimately decide who the Prime Minister or most importantly the 'Executive Head' of the World's Largest Democracy will be. All sorts of things happened with so many candidates openly claiming the seat of Prime Ministership but the things though quite predictable delivered a shock in terms of the success achieved by the Congress party. The elections which is held after every five years was conducted in five phases and were well conducted - thanks to the Election Commission. The verdict of the people showed a trend that is not only significant but interesting as well. For the first time, the one-ness in the people of India for a stable and secular government was seen. The unusual trend favored national parties over the state parties and of course the feat of Congress in U.P. The clean image of Dr. Manmohan Singh showed everyone that the stability and secularism is here to stay and the leaders who are convicted of charges have no place to lead the nation. As i have said earlier also in one of my posts that for a government to showcase development it cannot do all the things in five years. It needs more than that so that its policies are not only executed but get matured as well to bring about the improvement. And that may be seen this time. Another thing that i could infer from the elections was that Congress defied the usual convention. In India, the parties are characterized by the leader and not the party as a whole or the manifesto of the party. But Congress, according to me, is characterized by not only Dr. Manmohan Singh but also many other people of the party on whom the people of India can trust such as Sonia Gandhi, Rahul, Chidambaram, Pranab Mukherjee, Priyanka and many others. So certainly that sends out a message to all that 'Team Spirit' matters and no one person can take a charge of the whole nation. It is the collective effort that brings about the desired change. I have always been a firm believer that people at the highest echelon should be learned and highly intellectual. The politics is no more the same. Just like everything, it has changed and is still evolving and the education is something that can have a big effect on how to incorporate this evolution. With the emergence of candidates like Mallika Sarabhai, Shashi Tharoor, Meera Sanyal and many others showed that politics is no more fun and needs to be taken seriously. With faces like Rahul Gandhi, Milind Deora, Sachin Pilot and others in the politics, it tells everyone that youth involvement is very much an essential part of it and it has the potency to be an active partner.

If the usual conventions keep on breaking then the time is not too far when the India can claim to be one of the top nations of the world.

Its gona be interesting to see how does the new cabinet shapes up with the likes of Shashi Tharoor, Montek Singh Alluwalia to name a few in line with the oldies like Pranab Mukherjee, PC, etc...

I am hopeful of the fact that there will be a new momentum in the reforms in the sectors like Retail, Infrastructure, Telecom, Insurance & others to fuel the growth in the coming 5 yrs...

The degree of optimism in the new govt is shown in this fact that there is more than 15% increase in the capital market index (Sensex & Nifty) within a span of 2 minutes of trading...

How can we not discuss these two states..
AP, TN, WB & a little bit of UP is what has helped UPA notch up those numbers..
I mean YS Rajashekar Reddy in AP has done a superb job by getting some 22 odd seats to Congress. Mega Star Chiranjeevi has won none.. Infact he has lost the assembly election from Pallkollu [he won from Tirupati..]

In Tamil Nadu.. Everybody expected a landslide favouring AIADMK.. but.. DMK again got 20+ seats..

WB - Left washed away.. TC & Congress again a 20+

UP - Amazing recovery by Congres..

All these states are the major ones which have tilted the favour towards Congres../ UPA..

Re: Elections in INdia 2009 (DemoCrazy) - 19-05-2009, 08:59 AM

the sensex wouldnt have surged so much in case BJP won the throne as their policy are not investors centric.. the economic reforms of ManMohan Singh in 1991 which opened up the doors for FII/FDI showed that Congress is more concerned abt the economy which is probably the imp reasons for galore increase in Sensex..

Let see how it goes today?
