Child labour for sure. It's a shame that so called emerging superpower India can't provide a decent childhood to all her children. We see so many children working in hotels, chai taparis but we behave as if they don't exist.
It's high time we (and that includes me) start taking this seriously and adopt a no-tolerance approach. Laws are there, jaroorat hai unhe implement karaneki.

Re: Pursuit of Happiness -
20-04-2009, 12:24 PM
Till class XII I used to teach children of my nearby slum area. Most of them were not so much interested with their studies. But few were really good at that , they had great potential and would have surely made great if have provided with proper resources . I had a burning desire to help them finanacially but since I was myself a student I dint had that much money to help others.
During my B.Tech days I met one of my batchmate who is a great friend now and get to know that he with his school friends do support a child of his school who happen to be sharp minded but finacially weak. They just used to contribute Rs. 500/month. That idea really fascinated me and I thought that even I will do something in this regards when I will get a job. After me being financially independent I sent a mails to my school friends who were in touch through orkut, I dint get a single reply. Then I re-sent the mail but no improvement. I dropped the plan as I can't do anything BIG alone. But I was really amused that those friends always do have chit-chat with me will have hell lots of nonsense talk but once I send something fruitfull all of them were just mute.
On that day itself I decided that I will do something in this regard with or without anyone. So, this time when I will be going to my hometown I will talk to my school admin to set a founadtion for those, I am sure there must be more people of my kind who will come forward to help the intelligent-yet weak mind of our country. Amen

Re: Pursuit of Happiness -

I have following on my mind....
- Saving Animals
- Domestic Violence
- Street children
- Saving the elderly {i hate to see the Old people on Streets}
- Sexual Molestation
- child Education
and Many more too...
but my question is how many of us do SOMETHING bout it....
there are so many opportunities.... there is a toybank organization that collects used toys.
We all hear that Rs. 2000 a year can help a girl child study for a year..!!
but how many of us do that...
I am blessed that my grandmother always encouraged me to give some to the people who need it. Be it money or even your time.
Now that I am earning...i try to do as much as i can both money wise and time wise.
Look for opportunities and take a plunge!!

I am a bird lover...
and feel very sorry when I see birds in a cage. What the birds (mostly pigeons and parrots) might feel when they are caged inside and see their fellow birds flying high in the open sky...
I opened a bird cage in my landlords house and the bird flew, they never came to know who did it.
I also goto the city market and buy birds, once a month and open their cages. Its really an awesome feeling...
i urge all of you to please do the needful whenever you see a bird caged.

Well, one thing u can really do is to be a member at www.giveindia.org
This is a very trusted method of contributing to the society.. The donations here start from as low as Rs.100/- and u cud choose to contribute here on a monthly basis.
Not just this, but u cud also track every penny of ur's as to where its going and which NGO is getting benefited out of this. Most of the employees in my commpany are enrolled for this program whereby amount gets automatically debited from your account every month.
A very trusted method indeed.
I'm too a member here
Cheers,

Thanks for the link Nishant. If anybody know about some active NGOs in Gurgaon , plz let me know. Although I contacted "AID Delhi "( approx. 1 year back) who supposed to be active in Gurgaon too but I don't think so. It has been approx 1 year but still they quote the same excuse" We are searching for the place". I don't know when their search will be finished.
I also contacted "literacy India" somewhere around July-Aug last year. They asked me for the subject I would like to teach et al and they also asked me to visit the place. Masoom(another puy) accompanied me since it was at the remotest place of Gurgaon where no public vehicle goes. After hell lot of search we couldn't find the place and he was so annoyed that I have to return without visiting it. And one thing was sure to me that I can't go there every weekend since there is no mode of commuting.
I even PMed prem sir regarding the NGOs after going through the link of SPURTI. I know since he is in Bangalore he might not have any idea about the NGOs of this region if even me being here is totally unaware of it.

Sense of concern not only for humans but as well as other living elements.. But why do i have only words to speak and no actions to back my speech, that itself is a question for me and for many.. Is this what we call hypocrisy? If yes then i'm one of them..
So i want a society minus such humans...
