Surprising to see that no one has posted about the launch of the new Windows 7 beta so far.
Normally, it is tough to associate Microsoft with an OS that runs smoothly, and efficiently. But, it seems with this one, MS has some kind of formula right, finally!
Windows 7 is faster, leaner, and better than previous versions. It maintains most of the Vista look and feel, with a more 'glassy' look, but not much else has changed in the front-end.
What I loved most was the painless installation, and that it picked up sound/video/network drivers on its own, without installing from a drivers disk or site.
It features smart power management, and I was able to stretch the battery of my Dell Inspiron from 2.5-3 hours to approx 3.25 hours.
What detracted from the experience was 2 blue screen errors in 3 days. But thankfully, no data loss happened. Nevertheless, since it's only a beta, I'm not complaining.
But, judging from what I've seen so far, I'd be more than glad to completely migrate from my Vista to Win 7.
A more detailed review (still a novice's perspective) can be found on my blog at
The Geek Speaks.
Do try reading it, and letting me know.
P.S. As I continue testing it further, I shall keep posting here.
