Well....since this is all about football , Forza Azurri...

Have always been an Italy fan, which unfortunately has brought nothing but tears over the last ten years, especially after the finals of Euro 2000... that was doubly hurtful coz it meant that one of my favourite players and one of the greatest defenders of all time Paolo Maldini would never win a major international trophy with the national side...

This summer should be loads of fun...Netherlands are playing good football, as are France and Spain...but knowing Spain and their tendency to flatter only to deceive , hard to go by that...

Jus saw the Italian Squad List. Damn there is no Inzaghi !! But guess Totti, Veiri and Del Piero shd be enough ;-)
Germany.. ahem Ballack, Kahn. Who else ? Klose ?

Hiya Footies,
Finally the thread I was waiting for eagerly. Wat an exciting prospect we have this time in the form of Euro 2004. With all the leagues getting over, it was high time for some international football and boy, nothing could be better than Euro.

Well, i have been an Oranje fan since childhood..started with me liking their jersey colour . But then slowly realized they got a gr8 side too and i agree with u'll- this team certainly looks like one of the best they have had. So my favs for this Euro edition are:
1. Netherland
2. France (another highly talented bunch)
3. Italy
4. Portugal (good players + home adv)
5. England (well i have got a soft corner for EPL)

And hey, why dont u guys also mention the players to watch out for? There are the obvious ones (Zidane,Figo and co). But y not mention the lesser known ones who u think are going to make it big this time. My list goes like this:-
1. Rafael Van Der Vaart (Netherland) - real superstar in the making
2. Francesco Totti (Italy)- hope he does justice to his skills this time

Here's to a rockin Euro 2004
Cheers

Hmm...interesting team selection by Trap. Inzaghi is ruled out I guess with injury, although it seems possible that he may make a comeback if he can prove his fitness. No surprises other than that, looks like it's going to be the two forwards again with Totti playing just behind them...

Hmm...for the want of a midfielder ...Gattuso and gang are the honest triers, but one creative presence in the middle added to that strong defence and potent frontline and they would have been something...

Re: EURO 2004 - Vive o 2004!™ - 20-05-2004, 06:51 PM

well..I hope Spain can make it this time....too gud a team to keep on losing at the bigger stages...me betting on Czech and Denmark to be the dark horses...even Sweden seems to have a pretty gud team..if it all happened like last WC, when the favorites, France, Argentina, Portugal all bowed out in the first round itself...urs truly's note on the teams :-

1. Spain - Raul shud win something for Spain
players to watch - Vicente; Torres

2. Czech - Nedved, Smicer, Baros, Poborsky, Koller,
player to watch - Rosicky

3. Portugal - home advantage and the last chance for the Golden generation
player to watch - Deco

4. Denmark - have some pacy forwards , no midfield general tho...
player to watch - Martin Jorgensen

5. Sweden - shud be tough to beat
player to watch - Kim Kallstrom

6. France - Zidane and Henry , at their best, dont think anyone can stop them
player to watch - Rothen, i.e. if he plays

7. Germany - another "spirited " team
player to watch - more dependent on team work, than individual skills

8. Italy - hopefully they wont play 8-1-1
players to watch - Pirlo, Cassano

9. England - defence is stretched..and I dont support Liverpool, so absolutely no faith in owen-Heskey partnership
player to watch - Rooney

10. Latvia - Pahars, Bulgaria - Petrov, Greece , Croatia, Russia, Switzerland - Yakin

16. Holland - too strong on paper...
player to watch - VdV, Sneijder
