Hi Guys,

Great match between Germany & Holland yesterday as well. After the first 15 ins or so the Germans looked in control of the match whereas Holland were looking out of sorts. The first goal was entirely unintended i guess .....but that's football .....But before that Germany had a couple of decent chances which cud have been converted.

Though i hate to admit it.the goal by RVN was a good one ........I heard a commentator likening it to a MVB goal ..That must have made Mike's Day .All said and done i think both teams would be happy with the draw although the germans would have been disappointed somewhat. Anywayz with the first round of matches over and quite a few surprises...let's see what surprises the fortcoming matches contain .

Me still rooting for the French and hoping that Henry fires in the next match

Cheers,

Wayne

PS: I dunno if u guys have seen this but if you want to try and make some predictions (Dunno how many are willing after the UCL ) check out this link

Great for some fun.although you gotta do some manual input of scores

both matches were good ... czech were pretty good but latvia i thought could have won it ... the main match of the night ... germany - holland was a real treat ... see saw on both ends , 1 - 1 fair result

PS : Excepting sweden's 5 - 0 win , the way the tournament is going , its looking very defensive football and pathetic fowards ... hardly looks like teams r going to score

ya true , but these days , international football , the difference between good teams and the not so good ones is coming down . its like on a day , best of the teams can play bad and the so so teams can defeat them .check for the the qualifiers and the main matches , its like 1 -1 or 2-1 most of the time , now its no longer world domination like brazil , germans n italians of the old times . also many great teams have forgotten the art to defend their lead in matches like what england did

Hey ppl !

Wot is this Greek side upto ???

Beat hosts Portugal (n one of the tournament favs) 2-1 in the opening match, n now held another favs Spain 1-1...

Some surprises in store for us in Euro 2K4 too... pretty much on WC 2K2 early rounds lines...

Edit: Another shocker was the way the Swedes beat the Carpathians literally hollow... it was the margin tht was more shocking, not just the result...

PS: And Guess what Dutch team and supporters will be thinking even when their team will be knocked out ...... that they have won the Euro .... but ofcourse ...... like they nearly had a commerative stamp issued before 1990 WC, only to see their team fail to qualify for the WC itself
You serious? The French...let's just take a look at the comments after the game:

A certain Patrick Orangutan Vieira "The English played dirty football in the midfield. They cheated.".... Err......after seeing the way he himself plays (and of course Makalele), isn't this more like the pot calling the kettle black????

Bixente Lizarazu, "This is a measure of revenge for the defeat that Bayern suffered in the 1999 UCL finals against ManU".....Hmmm......do I really need to ealborate on the asinine nature of this statement?????

The only sensible reaction came from Zidane, the great man himself, who admitted that they were "lucky".......

By the way, I think the English team is all hype and don't really give them a chance in Hell anyway, but the French not being arrogant? Please, don't kid me.....

As for the Dutch, we shall see.....and BTB, they did qualify for the 1990 WC. They lost to West Germany in the second round and West Germany went on to win the tournament as history will tell you.....so please get your facts straight. Don't just shoot off....or you might just end up shooting yourself in the foot once again.....

Cheerio!
Mike

PS: Totti has been caught on film spitting at a Dane during the match. Is facing a possible suspension. I always knew the Italian team was a bunch of AHs and losers. Defend this one if you can mateys (whipper dude, c'mon, please, defend your "heroes" ;-) ).....Italian footballers s*ck!!!! Bigtime! Not only can't they play, they can't even be sporting.....Cheers! Hope he gets a 5-game ban at least........

Re: EURO 2004 - Vive o 2004!™ - 17-06-2004, 03:09 PM

Hmmm.....it's really interesting.

Group D (Death): Either of Ger, Ned or the Czechs will crash out in stage 1, which means one real biggie out! Sad, but true...

Group A: Now this one's really a corker. With Greece drawing against Spain, they are through!!! So, either of Portugal or Spain will surely be eliminated!!!! Now THAT is real news coz these are 2 of the favourites!!!!!! (Or should I say were?). Personally, I was backing these teams (2nd and 3rd after the Dutch of course) and to see one of them go so early is sad. Goddamn the Portugese for losing :(:(:(

Group B: Again a nice one. If England don't WIN tonight, they may also be on their way home!!!!! Another of the so-called favourites (though I have always stood by my stand that they are just hype.....no - or little - substance)

Now.....why does Group C look so empty then??? No classy teams in that Group at all!!! Sweden?? Bulgaria? Denmark?? Or those Italians (Oh, how I hate this team ??? ;-)

But seriously, surely one of the 3 biggies from Group D should have been in C. I mean, Sweden are the best team in that Group, which really sums it up!! I'm sure the Italians rigged it ;-);-).....sad.....
