Hi Maverick,
i wud suggest any guitar learner to initially start with acoustic....and den move to electric...
ur finger movements become real smooth this way.

a gud electric guitar basic one comes for around 5-6000 bucks.....Givson.....

and for ne kinda guitar 3 months is tooooooo
less...
ciao,
Gaurav

I dunno whu everone seems to have presumed that one cant learn guitar in 3 months.

I learnt it for three months and I could play lots of HINDI songs after those three months. And yes I could also play all the seven scales and notes and tabs and chords etc.

May be I am missing something here...

P.S. this was when I was in second year of college and its been three yers now. Can't even play 'Soniya' now :(

Hmm...Learning the guitar in three months!!
Its possible if you've nothing else to do...

Heyy Pragati...I've got a Givson Jumbo too!!..it's a great guitar (mine is not a f-cut though) and its great for strumming and playing country! All the best to you!

Anyways, for ppl who're planning to learn the guitar by themselves, I recommend this site...www.cyberfret.com

The chords and scale exercises on this site are good (and they have video clips too). I've learnt the guitar (picking exercises, chords and basic scales) from the net and went to a teacher only for advanced scales. I suggest, before you invest in a costly guitar and guitar class, try practicing at home at least for a week or 2...by borrowing a guitar from a friend or someone. You'll get the feel of it and find out whether you're enjoying it or not.

Learning the guitar requires patience (the chromatic exercises are the basics and ppl give up right there itself) and more importantly...genuine love for the instrument!!

And yeah...Hetfield and Hammett would shoot themselves if ppl played "For Whom..."...in 3 months.. .

Cheers!!
Gaurav.

P.S: Puneet...you play for any band..mate??

Hey Anil,

well i guess most of ur queries have been answered.....3 months isnt enuf...but then with time on hand...its one good way of puttin it to some use.

guitars as i understand (Acoustic) start 1500 onwards......i bought a Hobner F cut at Delhi...it souns good and have been prectising....its kinda frustrating in the beginning when u can neiter pluck the stings right or move ur fingers smoothly...lets c where i land up in 3 months time!! ;-)

Pragati.. Nice to know that somenody is really enjoying learning Guitar!!

Actually, me wanted to learn too... but somehow found it extremely tough.. My fingers were damn stiff.. & refused to flex... :( :( and i kept wondering if i could never get the hang of it... So, stopped my guitar classes... & the guitar is slowly attracting cobwebs.. :( Mine is a F cut - Hobner ...

Do we have to begin only when u are below 20 or what to learn this guitar.. i wonder .. becos.. frankly.. i used to find it so difficult that i used to wonder if anybody likes this thngie???

Simbaaaaaa
