Importance of Group Studies - 19-09-2008, 08:47 PM

Group studies...heard about this word for the first time in school...but didnt realise its importance...i did well in X widout ne sort of group studies...then came XII most important phase of my life...again didnt realise the importance of group studies...and thats what cost me a seat in IIT...yes looking back i feel if I had a good group i wud have made to the IITs....its after this i realised how importanant are group studies....i wonder now that many people dont realise d power of group studies , power of a good group...wat a good group can do...

It can gelp you to get diverse knowldge, different perspective, ofcourse your knowldge also gets enhanced...most important a good Group can motivate you and u strive to put that xtra effort to beat other memebers of your grp..

One caution here...one one hand a good group can help you to achieve what you need in life...a bad group can really bring your performance down...it can actually inhibit your progress..thats what happened wid me in XII i had some brilliant frends with reargd to knowledge...intelligence...what they sadly lacked was motivation and focuss to put that extra bit....

So most important is to form a group...whats a good group, how to form it, whats basic ingredients of a good group that can provide that extra zip and zing in your endavor to achieve ur goal...I Blieve a good group is a prerequiste for cracking CAT...or any competitive exam for that matter..

So i urge all the achiever and performers to post their expeirnce on this thread and answer all the above questions..so that any one directionless in their prep for CAT or exam can learn from your experiences....

because experienence is the only thing which is respected rather than giving gyaan

PS: I dindt find a thread on similar lines so started a new thread incase if a similar thread is there i request MODs to locck this thread....

totally agree

here in NM, I was shocked to see almost all my buddies prefer to work alone rather than in a group ... Did a little brainstorming with everyone and now with 100% satisfaction(after writing all papers), Group study is the most effective way to study.

It is ok to use it in shorter posts but when your post is a bit longer please ensure that you are not using sms language as it is not reader friendly. Just felt like telling as I did not find it easy to read.

i have personally experienced a concept which i had read more than ten times yet have always failed to remember, the same thing when a friend told me while group study, trust me i have not forgotten even today.it's not possible to instill in one person all the things,so a healthy group study definitely helps in exchange of ideas and it can only be beneficial

Group studies do help a lot is preparation of tough entrance exams like CAT.....

Like said the Group should be really focussed and self motivated one to get the real benefits....

One needs to be choosy in selecting the persons with whom he is to study... as there are no second chances.....
