what is the objective of this poll?everybody likes the city where they were raised.i have noticed one thing..wherever IT goes, the flavour of the city is lost.the images are the same, and the feelings are the same.can you name one thing about bangalore, which reflects the karnataka culture? | | | | | The Following 4 Users Say Thank You to WHODARESWINS For This Useful Post:

Infrastructure - Delhi
Opportunities - Mumbai
Food - Delhi.. no question about it.. if you know the right places (and i'm not just talking about paranthe waali gali) you can't beat Delhi..
Quality of Life - Chandigarh
Heritage - I can't pin point 1 city.. i'd have to say Rajasthan
Visual beauty - Havelock, jolly buoy (Andaman & Nicobar) ( though I doubt they would be same, post tsunami), Srinagar is wonderful, too
Weather - I love Dilli ki sardi.. and South Indian hill stations are pleasant, all year round but, that is what hill stations are for.. I can't really say which city has the best weather 24*7*365
Night Life - B'lore
safety (for women) - Mumbai
cost of living - Kolkata
Appeal - Mumbai
Overall - Delhi, Mumbai for me comes a close second
Personally, I feel Mumbai has something to it that attracts you.. the sea, the swanky houses, that sense of ease to it..
Another point I'd like to mention here :-
I being a Delhite was amazed when I saw proper queues for buses, LCDs in the buses (I don't feel ashamed to say this.. but, they would have been stolen (I know, I'm using a very polite word ), had they been in a DTC bus.. within a day or 2), hell.. even in a marriage.. people went in a queue to congratulate the bride and the groom.. haven't seen that in Delhi Eternity for India Barcenal for life | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to utsav_s1986 For This Useful Post:

All Indian cities are heading towards their doom.
Just to see the positive side, Chandigarh is a hot contender. Beautiful, well planned, green, nice crowd and cheap , what else do you want?
Apart from the infrastructure and standard of living, I would rate cities on the kind of people they have since that leaves the biggest impression. In that sense surely the best cities are Mumbai and Kolkata. But apart from that Mumbai is a disaster.
Bangalore is doomed as well. Hyderabad is doing pretty well at the moment. Food and infrastructure are good at the moment and it has the best chance among all cities to survive the onslaught it is facing since it should benefit from seeing other cities.
Another city to mention is Cochin which is beautiful. Of course not as big or with as many job opportunities, but surely a good place.
But in the end, living in a city itself sucks as an idea. Living close to nature would always take the cake. Pain is nothing. Pain is in the mind. If you can walk, you can run. I'd say if you like partying, staying out late, meeting ppl, or looking for opportunities then its mumbai
and for a family it'd be hyderabad CAT 06 -94.64% VA-40%
CAT 07 -96.24% VA-62%

Infrastructure - Delhi
Opportunities - Mumbai / Delhi / Bengaluru (Depends what area you want to mae your career in)
Food - Undoubtedly Delhi (have seen all big cities, and none can beat Delhi in this front)
Quality of Life - Chandigarh / Delhi / Pune (Mumbai and Bengaluru suck when it comes to the quality of life)
Heritage - Rightly pinted out by Junior..it has to be Rajasthan
Visual beauty - Srinagar, Leh Ladhakh, North East India, Andaman & Nicobar, back waters in Kerala
Weather - Delhi has extreme temperatures around the year, Mumbai sucks because of the its humidity and same weather condtions through out the year. Pune and Bengaluru score in this front
Night Life - B'lore / Mumbai / Delhi (Though Delhi is not the safest)
safety (for women) - Nothing can beat Chennai here (the reason is that the turnout in the night time is zilch in Chennai) so if you have to see realistically it has to be Mumbai
cost of living - Cost of the living should be compared with the quality of life, and hence i think Chandigarh is at the top for me (For me, i cant rate Kolkata at the top anywhere)
Appeal - Delhi/Mumbai/Bengaluru and all other cities (Every city has its own charm and appeals for some or the other reason, eg Mumbai for Job opportunities / bolywood, Delhi for food and better infra, Chandigarh for a peaceful life, Pune for the youth because
Overall - Delhi (nothing can beat my city) Dilli meri jaan
Cheers

My Take would be:
Infrastructure - Hyderabad
Opportunities - Mumbai, Bangalore (coz I am an ITian)
Food - Delhi
Quality of life - Hyderabad
Visual beauty - Delhi
Activities/things to do - Bangalore, Mumbai
Weather - Bangalore, Pune
Here I am talking about the best option among all the cities. Now, Delhi is best for food. But, it lacks in many other things.
But, when you want to stay in some city, you start looking from the cost of living first. Being a bachelor, you will look for entertainment next.
Overall - Hyderabad
I rate Hyderabad as the best overall. It has best infrastructure, average opportunities, food is good, entertainment is pretty cheap (Aah, movie tickets are still 35-45 bucks.. ). Weather is pretty good, not extreme of anything. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to voracious_devil For This Useful Post:

Why is Delhi being rated so high on food? Its good there and I like it. But really Mumbai can offer more. The north Indian dishes in Delhi cannot be matched, but Mumbai isn't bad and offers lot more variety. There is also a certain Mumbai taste to all cuisines which is fantastic.
Kolkata is very underrated for food(maybe for lack of puys from there). It is absolutely mouth watering there not to mention the affordability. It should be no.1. Pain is nothing. Pain is in the mind. If you can walk, you can run. The road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom. Forza Inter

Kolkata has the most awesome and ecelectic food to offer at all kinds of prices. Hit the area in and around Park Street, its heaven, from chic restaurants, confectionaries, bars to footpath vendors.
Of course, we are not taking into contention brands like KFC, etc. Some of them are not there in Kolkata yet. But if one leaves aside unbranded food, Kolkata is terrific. Quote:

Lots of people seem to be mentioning B'lore as the city with the best Nightlife. Now thats quite contrary to what ive heard.
Friends there keep complaining about how everything closes down early?
Sure it has been the no. 1 destination if you're a music lover for many years now, .. but ,with the recent ban n live performance now, can't say how long that will be true..
Personally I havnt spend a sufficient amout of time in any city except New Delhi, so wont be in a position to make a comparison..
cheers..
