hi aeyaz.. great thread.
we all complaining about how this country is going to the dogs...
this really is a way to do something for it...
my ideas for showing ur love for ur country...
1. curb corruption(don't know how..)
2. curb population(use the rubber..)
ask not what ur country has done for u.. ask what u can do for ur country...-abhraham lincoln. Nothing is, but what is not....... | | | | | | | |

Jus becuz i wear the Indian Flag as a clothing, does it mean that i am abusing/disrespecting it. Personally, i feel that i am wearing my identity.

Bouquets and Brickbats welcome! | Zubin,
We have something known as the Flag Code of India, 2002 which tells us how the Flag is not to be disrespected. As per the code, wearing the Flag as a part of clothing was totally disallowed. However, this was modified in 2005. Now, it can be worn, but only above the waist, but only as a representation of the flag, but not as part of clothing. Hence, a sportsperson or a person representing India can have a flag of India on top of the normal clothes. Check this out: Flag of India - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Grondmaster | Yes... i knw abt the Flag code and its amendments... But my point being that why must we be bound by what someone else feels is an INSULT to the INDIAN FLAG ? Where does the freedom of thought go here??

Hence my post | Zubin... accepted. But won't you too feel insulted when Ganguly wears the tricolour upside down on his helmet? That, btw, happened, in a One-Day series in India - one of them was at Wankhede.
Freedom of thought is a different aspect altogether. Understand that a National Flag is a representative entity of the country itself. Hence, if anyone feels anything insulting about the flag, for them, it represents insulting the country. We are not as openminded about respect as the USA. For us, respect still has a traditional outlook, that needs to be fulfilled to a greater extent than just thinking about it, or saying a few words. We need to act it out as well.
Hence, to spell out what respect for the flag is, we have the flag code. Its not to tell us how to respect it, it tells us how not to disrespect it. That's all.
