www (dot) compareindia (dot) com is a great place to check out not just MP3 players but all gadgets at very indicative prices, and so is eBay.

What sort of memory are you looking for?
If you want good sound quality, you won't get it with the earbuds that come along with 4000-buck players. My advice to you would be to get something basic for 3000, and invest 1000 bucks atleast in a good pair of earphones or headphones, like Sennheiser. You might laugh, but trust me - I've seen (heard, rather) headphones of all types - iPod headphones suck so much they take the whole experience of the iPod away. So you can imagine how bad things like Transcend and all would be.

Tell me how much memory you're looking for, waise.

Re: Gadgets--The Entertainers..! - 24-11-2008, 12:18 AM

i don't mind even if the memory is 1 GB.
but i would prefer good sound quality.

today i went to some music and electronics stores here in kolkata, most of them suggested the phillips GO Gear with a memory of 2 gb, that costs around 3300 bucks.
they suit my budget and hopefully will deliver good sound quality.

so i think i can follow ur advice and buy a good pair of earphones with them!!!

Mate, even if you pick up a low-end Transcend or Sandisk for 2000 bucks, you can get exceptional sound by adding good headphones

If you're interested, I've got the PDF of a recent Digit issue which has an MP3 player shootout, that should help you. PM me your email address and I'll send it over.

Waise, for the interested, the best sounding MP3 players are the Cowon D2 and the iTouch, surprisingly. The iTouch lost out because of the crappy Apple earbuds that come along with it. But then, the Cowon is 12000 for 8 GB and the iTouch ranges depending on the capacity, but the interface is amazing!

Entry-level headphones: A decent pair of Sennheisers should cut it. Do you want one for home use or travel? I'm sure you wouldn't want to be seen with these babies on your head on the Bombay locals :P

Oh waise, didn't answer you...

The GoGear is a good player, good reviews and all. Can't go wrong with 3000 bucks, anyway!
