The 2008 UEFA European Football Championship, commonly referred to as Euro 2008, will take place in Austria and Switzerland, from 7 June to 29 June 2008. Slogan: Expect Emotions. Mascots: Trix and Flix Match ball: Europass by Adidas Teams: Group A: Czech Republic • Portugal • Switzerland • Turkey Group B: Austria • Croatia • Germany • Poland Group C: France • Italy • Netherlands • Romania Group D: Greece • Russia • Spain • Sweden Euro 2004 Champs: Greece Euro 2004 Second Place: Portugal
The thread is now open for discussions on the same.
Other football discussions can be carried on the Football Club thread.
PS: Trophy attached
PPS: People can suggest top 10 team names so that a poll can be opened on who'll win this championship. Else we'll open a poll only after group stage. There is a limitation of only 10 options in a poll.

Germany
My take is that Germany goes on to win. At any rate they will clear the group stage.
Cheers. | | | | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to the_egonomist For This Useful Post:

Group C looks the toughest group by far, with Italy, France, and Holland. All three teams are quite capable of putting up strong challenges for the title.
The eight teams I'd like to see as poll options would be:
1. Spain - El Nino attack
2. France - The magic of Henry
3. Italy - Forza Azzuri
4. Greece - The dark horses?
5. Portugal - Well....I detest them, but they are a good side
6. Holland - Co-winner of SR's most hated
7. Germany - trust them for Klose games
8. Russia - just to complete the numbers, really!
Ten options might be a bit too many. | | | | | The Following 16 Users Say Thank You to sumitrocks For This Useful Post: | alagati (28-05-2008), ambujesh (28-05-2008), ande_ka_funda (28-05-2008), anvesh23 (28-05-2008), fire_kris (28-05-2008), getintoiimb (28-05-2008), joel1702 (28-05-2008), Jok3r (28-05-2008), knightofwar (30-05-2008), monsterkartik (31-05-2008), polpot (28-05-2008), rushivasani (28-05-2008), sid_dharth (28-05-2008), stiffler (06-06-2008), the_egonomist (28-05-2008), vishal_9feb (28-05-2008)

Don't count out Romania. They are the underdogs here. A good team with two stalwarts in Mutu and Chivu.

hahahahahahaha...just loved it.... one problem though i think sukur is not in the team...
but even without him they are a good team...
there strike force Nihat, Sanli..defence is strong and as you have mentioned they are a tough team...
The reason you are calling them a junglee team is because of the way they play @ home.....some of the attitude from spectators rub off to players too....
romania: the two factors that are working for them is their team spirit...and ADRIAN MUTU.....i guess he may have a point or two to prove at international stage.....
unless and untill some team have all the luck (like greece in 04) i cant see any team apart from these (the team mentioned in my two posts) winning euro 08..
@ KGV i just spelt the name incoorect....
i know suker retired long time back NITIE
