  Spain won....
A real good match for a final. But I must say, that if you were a german supporter then it was a frustrating 2nd half. They were not keeping possesion, not clearing the ball well ...I had said in my earlier post that its upto the big players and german biggies really disappointed today.
Talking about Spain, Torres except the goal was average. But Iniesta, Xavi, Fabreagas and Silva (Except missing a sitter) played well.
Dont forget Cassilas. The attcking approach and ball-punches that he got out were really good...
Deservant winners ....
This brings us to the end of Euro....Hmmm many positives and many negatives....
For me positives were
1) Arshavin (Whole team to that matter)
2) Senna
3) Silva
Negatives
1) Ronaldo
2) Klose
3) France

My thoughts :
The most consistent team in the tournament won....with a 100 % record may I add. The perenial under acheivers have proved everybody wrong. Aragones stuch his neck out by not picking Joachim and Raul. He has proved all his detractors wrong. Marcos Senna has proved that he is one of the most under rated players in the world. Klose was a disappointment in the entire tournament. Torres stood up and got counted when it mattered the most.....and yes finally, heroes can turn into villains in a matter of just 2 matches. Lahm lterally pulled Germany out of a pit against Turkey, yet today, he was responsible for letting Torres get the better of him and score.
Regards.
PS : Just have a look at which people had voted for the eventual winner in the poll of this thread.
Manchester United is my religion, and Rooney is my God !

Viva Espana!
Well to be fair to them, the team with the best record (all wins so far) and the maximum goal scored (11 before tonight) won!
What a cool finish by Torres. I don't think Lehmann was at fault there. Wonder what was Lahm doing stopping before Lehmann could come up really close to the ball. Germany looked out of sorts after that goal. They fought well in the second half, and not just long balls but slick passing as well. But they couldn't find the finishing touch. They became very physical towards the end.
Actually the point when Kuranyi was brought into play, that was when I thought it's game over for Germany. 4-3-3 with the mis-firing Kuranyi in the right doesn't seem to fit somehow. Full credit for the Spaniards for not sitting back and going after the goal till the last minute. Also credit for their midfielders who just didn't give the ball to the Germans in the beginning of the second half. I am sure if Villa would have been fit and playing in the second half he would have got at least a couple of shots on target.
Puyol and Ramos (as always) stood out for their bravery. Both Casillas and Mad Jens displayed some good goalkeeping. The second time Lehmann came upon Torres, that was perfectly executed.
It was really heartening to see the Spanish team celebrating as one. (Kinda makes us forget the Asien Del Horno episode where he refused to be photographed with the Spanish national flag). Congrats to Villa for scoring the maximum goals in the tournament. Congrats to Saint Iker for lifting the cup that have eluded them for so long.
I think it's about time that GoSpain gives everyone here a treat (ok, we can wait till your hangover is over )

I had this discussion with my friend yesterday. We argued long and hard about Spain's youth and the Germans grit.
Well anyways a good win for Spain ( from what I read).
Frankly, I didnt expect a 1-0 score.
And, at any rate Germany made it to the finals
Cheers.
P.S: Does this mean this thread has to be closed ?

Wont be a long post.
My thoughts on the match
1. Germany were rubbish
2. Spain were better
3. Ballack did not turn up. For all who accuse Ronaldo of not turning up on big occaisons. Ballack is losing his nth final.
4. Torres looks like a woman
5. If it weren't a man then a hot one too
6. Now no footie for a month and the longest period waiting for it to start
It's a marathon, not a sprint. Unless you're Man Utd, in which case you let the other teams get ahead and then start sprinting as they all fall apart.

Well done la Roja.
