Whoa:2gunfire:

Those are some fascinating number of goals by Muller. Scoring that many goals consistently for more than a decade is some mean feat. He is 3rd in all time lead scorers behind Pele and Romario. But we know most of their goals have come in some unheard tournaments against unheard teams.

No one in this generation has been able to score those kind of goals for even 3-4 years together. In the current lot of players, the most capable or consistent ones seem Trezeguet and RVN.

Apologies for breaking the flow. But i am posting after a long time on my beloved thread .

Well i am watching euro at Nitie hostels common room these days and the atmosphere is so electrifying. Its so much fun to watch soccer with your batch mates. Majority of us support germany and wants it to win EURO.

PS- We even had our own version of Soccer competition. Its amazing to play in the field that is located among the hills.

PS PS- I have even found members for I hate Ronaldo and Anti ManUtd clubs here

Re: UEFA Euro 2008 discussions - 29-06-2008, 09:18 PM

Preview for the game all have been waiting for.
Germany have a chance to consolidate their position as the most successful nation in Euro while Spain have a chance to put their past disappointments behind.

Spain
Spain have got better as the tournament progressed. They have now got the mental strength they lacked by beating Italy. It really banished the demons in their minds.
The major concern is Villa missing out. But I said before its actually good for them since now they can play a 433 formation which Iniesta and Silva are well suited to. Fabregas fits in pretty well too with this formation. Senna has been a revelation this tournament. Their best player I believe.

-------------Torres-------------
--Iniesta-----Fabregas-----Silva--
----------Xavi------Senna-------
Capdevilla-Marchena-Puyol-Ramos
---------------Casillas-----------

Germany
They have performed just as expected. Never setting the game alight but always confident and in control. This is the Germany we know so well always managing to do well. But it hasn't really worked out well in the end for them. Losing in semis and finals in the last two WCs, they would want to do win here.
Teamwise, Podolski and Schweinsteiger who have both had disappointing club seasons have performed well here. However they would need to perform a lot better to win here. Klose or Gomes are not in great nick.

The major concern for them would be Ballack who hasn't shone much as well. What a pity it would be to see him missing this game. Even to see him lose here would be a pity. Having lost the league, German cup, UCL with Leverkusen and WC in 02.. in fact he missed the finals of CL and WC after being the best player for his team. This season would bring back memories of 2002 for him. Having stood 2nd again in the league and CL and reaching finals here but being injured.

Spain are the favourites to win here but I would be cheering for Germany!

@ Federer,
Buddy, football is all about suporting your team. Its never about demeaning other teams.

Had all of us supporting one team, there wouldn't have been any exciting rivalries between teams and fans. Soccer is fun and lets enjoy while supporting our own teams.

To summarize , lets agree to disagree

@ rock great spirit man, your analysis are always interesting.

Go germany Goooooo

Re: UEFA Euro 2008 discussions - 30-06-2008, 01:40 AM

Since some of my fav players are part of this match - Ballack, Klose, Podolski, Lahm, TORRES!!, Ramos, Puyol, Casillas, Fabregas...and most of the others too...I had a tough time taking sides, though I'm more of a Spanish supporter than a German one.

Spain are already leading 1-0, thanks to a great finish by Torres. The Spanish Armada looked very tense for the first 10 minutes, but picked up their game soon afterwards. Torres was unlucky to be denied by the woodwork once, but made amends soon after, by getting a peach of a goal.

Go, El Nino, Go!!

FERNANDO TORRES!!!!!

WHAT A GOALLLLLL!!!

SPAIN!!!!

THE CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE!!!!!!!!

A good game overall... with the deserving team winning it..!!!! And Spain have been the best team throughout the tournament!

Torres had been missing so many chances, and I was starting to feel awfully bad for him!!! But this amazing goal from a half-chance is enough to show his class and his talent!!! Way to go...!!!!
