Hope Czech only improve from here on .

PS: Pity i could not watch the match fully.
Definitely not a good start to the tournament...hope portugal vs turkey is better..

Czechs definitely look completely out of attacking power cause of missing their fab3(poborsky, nedved , & rosicky)...koller looked very isolated up front...dunno why baros was benched:dontgeti:

The swiss definitely deserved atleast a point...they created far better chances...& it was heart wrenching to see frei crying inconsolably...

even before watching turkey play i would say that they can be the team which qualify with portugal from this group...the czechs are a completely diffrent side to the last EURO( & not in a good way)....atleast seems so from the 1st match...

EDIT : request the mods to make this thread sticky till the competition is over...

Great game by portugal...

created a host of chances...nuno gomes hitting the post twice...
Full credit to turkey for not defending from the start of the game & trying to attack quite a bit themselves...

Ronaldo was bundled in the beginning on the right, but played better when he started moving around, with deco covering on the right when he went to the middle...didn't look as if the media hype of the previous days affected his game ...& his fitness was on the mark too, which i didnt expect, after coming from such a long season with united...

surprisingly, he was handed the captaincy when gomes left the field...

Deco was extremely good, his showing at euro might affect the club he ends up at next season...& mautinho is an able replacement for maniche, though hes not as effective defensively...

Hoping tomorrow's games are also as good...

PS : does anybody have a clue why quaresma wasnt played?:dontgeti:

i miss the EURO cause of no TV at home.

from what i have read - an awful game by czech and yet they managed a win over dominating switzerland thanks to cech.

poor switz should be an awful start to the EURO. now they have to win over Portugal.

guys apart from frei who all are injured ?

Cheers,
Deepu.

Comfortable & deserved win for Portugal

Was a good game..unlike the first match which bored me & I ended up channel surfing

Where are all the football club regulars??

The Czechs looked very one dimensional yesterday. God, how i wish Nedved was still there. This Czech side will lose to Portugal and then lose to Germany in the quarters.

Portugal were playing good football yesterday. Moutinho especially caught my eye. But a top team playing a 5 man midfield can cut out their flair easily. ONly because the y dont have a striker. But a path till the semis is assured.

It's a marathon, not a sprint. Unless you're Man Utd, in which case you let the other teams get ahead and then start sprinting as they all fall apart.
