forget the mudslinging thats going on , but i am actually faced with a deliima simiar to what dharam mentioned

say i have 2 canadies in my area - a and b
a is from party 1 and b is from party 2

now a has worked well in my area , has helped people is a better person than b , .

but his party 1 has an ideology that i dont identify with . rather the ideology of part2 is better, their manifesto is better , the reforms etc are better

so whom should one vote for .who should be given more importance - canadite or his party??

my take on this would be to vote for the candidate provided you are not strongly against his party's idealogy.AP being the state i come from,i would vote for TDP party only because i want Mr.Naidu to be relected.and these days,i find idealogy to be a concept that is slowly fading away.so if the candidate is gud and has done something worthwhile in the past and if you believe he can do the same thing in the future,well,it is a no brainers as far as i am concened.more inputs from the junta is expected.

My name is not in the voters list.. So I can not vote. I have never voted so far, and somehow I am not enthused to go and include my name in the list. I tried once, then gave up. The procedures were irritating. Anyway, the choice at my place is pretty bad. The BJP-ADMK candidate( whom i woulda voted ) is nowhere as popular as the other one - the DMK's. So it is known who is going to win. My vote doesn't really matter..

Good ppl make good party.
I think we should reward the performance & not get carried away by who is the leader etc.
And that will ensure that gundas, criminals & corrupt netas don't get eleccted just coz of certain Vajpayee or priyanka.

ok today i vote for the canadite but tommorow in the lok sabha when a bill is being disscussed wont he talk according to his party's ideals / manifesto?

look neha. I'm supporting Congress & u BJP our posts make this obvious but let me say few things on this forum.
I myself was a BJP supporter coz I thot they may be diff but but I reamined one only till........yes it may be trivial for few.............but till controversy about "Water" happened...
You may say that was not a big deal. But I suddenly felt that I can't identify with an idealogy that stifles any kinda freedom.
But I still wished that Vajpayee become PM . I was elated when he did.
But it all changed with Gujarat. ...I was studying in Gujarat then...& it was horrible... for months I felt that if I'm given choice to kill one man it will be modi. I still maintain that.
I was in Mumbai when BJP ally shiv-sena's goons took out those hapless guys who had come to take Railway board exam. Booted them, kicked them , chased them
Couldn't sleep that nite after seeing those things. It hurts . It disturbs.

The word 'secular' due to over-use & inept-use has become kinda hackneyed. But
believe me it's important. Today I may be born Hindu & what BJP did may not have affected me but what if I was not....or what if u were not...?
Vajpayee will soon retirte we know & who will takeover from him...
Advani..Modi...Katiyar....Bharti....
This thought terrorizes me.

Look what BJP govt. tried to do in MP.
Can't eat meat or egg in few cities.
Girls can't wear jeans to coll.
Sadhus will do pravachan in govt. schools.

I know today we may have a choice between devil(BJP) n deep blue sea(Rest) but guys back urself to swim across the sea coz devil won't give u a chance . He will devour the fabric of indian society & leave scars that may never get healed.

You have asked what do congress has..... I just sense that Sonia, Priyanka, Rahul have a certain sincerity, I'm going by that. You chose for yourself.

At least you guys have some opinion about all of this. I did all all of my schooling in India and was never interested in Indian politics. So never really bothered to keep track of it. even after I came here three years ago, I was never really inclined to towards Indian politics. And now I am totally clueless about who belongs to what party. It goes without saying,I don't really know who to vote for, though the idea of voting sounds highly interesting.
