Great quote there Apurv

@Sudoku: waiting for your more replies.

@ideacrash: Congrats I appreciate ^the first step^. Still your idea looks rough to me. You got to sit with your friends, think, THINK & THINK to make it more refined. All these replies would definitely help you structuring your plan.
Business like you have interests in, has factors to consider: LOCATION and culture/ambience and niche are few to mention.
It's been observed that for most of the cases, be it a chain /franchise or a solo restaurant, the success of such business depends primarily on LOCATION.

All the best.

@IdeaCrash

Talking of Mom's Kitchen, you should read this to know how those guys did it: Mom's Kitchen

had a idea similar to this (starting tiffin delivery service, not like Mom's Kitchen but more on line of Calorie Care )about 7 month back, but then decided to drop it after checking few more details ...

i realized, the things is i lack passion for that particular business and i doubt whether u can get succeeded without passion in any business ...

I would rather say Calorie Care is much better concept than Mom's Kitchen, especially reading after all those replies on blog as well as listening to few friends who have tested Mom's Kitchen service

Very good thread.

I think ppl have already pointed out the important issues.

Jay if you dont want to leave your job and still want to do something then I would suggest to start something which can be done online.

For example you can sell stuff online. This dosent require too much of capital and time.

But dude eventually once you see if your venture is feasible then you have to leave you job to make it a success.

Thanks

Some of the guidelines i cud think of is:
1. Place to start at
2. Cook
3. Lawyer for legal advice on all the various issues.
4. Target as to how much u plan to make in a day/month, wen do u plan to break even?
5. Theme/ speciality of resaurant
6. Research the area wher the restaurant will cme up and demography etc
7. Contact wid local goons
8. PR and hw to implement it

These are some of the ideas i cud come up wid, many of em are pretty general in nature and could apply to all
