Me me me!!
There's already a guitar players thread but I think that thread has had its day, so let this be the reloaded one .
I started out learning with The Eagles and John Devner, then when I was good with chords I started soloing other things like Led Zeppelin, Iggy Pop, Cream, Pearl Jam, Joe Satriani, Stevie Ray Vaughan and all. Then tried learning some jazz on my own .
Bought a bass last year and been at it since then, even played a couple of concerts with a temporary band
I'm looking for a good drummer for a band we're trying to form... there's a guitar player, a rhythm guitar/keyboard player who's also a sound engineer and myself. We're looking to play challenging stuff like Rush, Dreamtheater, Megadeth and some experimental jazz. Gear we use... Korg, Line 6, Digitech and more.
Anybody wanna drum?

Started playing when i was in college...my roomie was brilliant guitarist..so i used to learn from him..but my main problem was impatience...after learning major chords...directly jumped onto playing songs..he used to tell me the chords and i played..so i could play most of the songs then but if u asked me to play a new song altogether i couldn't...i lacked basics..u know what today only i made a plan that i will join a school or something this weekend to get basics right and today only someone opened this thread ....hopefully i will be able to get my basics right and become a good guitarist..i have loads of dedication and time..only thing needed is a good school..hopefully i will get this right this time. I have found one..its close to my house in hyd so lets see Also one question I am planning to get a new guitar also..so any suggestions for an acoustic guitar..are most welcome Thanks

1.How can you speak of guitar covers and not mention Beatles?
2.I still struggle to play a F chord.
3.November Rain is my fav GnR track as well, but there isn't much guitaring in it :/.Knockin' on Heaven's door or Paradise City is much better from a guitarist's perspective I think.
4.The previous thread may have had its day but it still has a lot of material which this thread will take some time to garner. Why not merge both the threads with whatever title you want?
5.Macintosh has a feature called iGarage(not sure about the name,it may also be iGrunge). How good is it,can any1 shed some light? The previous thread spoke a lot about GuitarPro anyway.
6.I don't have a Gibson, but many people have told me it is the best.
Cheers to strumming

New people need to interact and make friends without the hangover of oldies.
The purpose here is not to make a definitive database of guitar knowledge, but to enable people who love the guitar to interact and make friends. Quote: |

| It's excellent! Multi track recording, in-built metronome and click track recording. There are international bands that record entire albums on the Mac . Quote: |

| I don't think there's any such thing as 'the best' guitar. It all depends on what kind of sound you want, what wood you prefer, what pickups you like, what amp, pedals and processors you use, etc. No guitar is versatile . However, Gibson does make some popular and iconic guitar models, but then so does Fender, Ibanez, Line 6, PRS. Some people argue that Gibson is the best because it has the cleanest sound, but it's a self-serving argument... it assumes that all guitar players want to have a clean guitar sound which is BS. It all depends on what music you play.

if u are comfortable and progress at a good rate than u should buy a guitar.
than u can buy either electric (my opinion) or accoustic.
just one question .......... how do u plan to learn guitar (i mean first hindi songs than rock music or guitar basics and basic rock songs no hindi)???
even if u plan to buy an accoustic now u can look at YEMAHA (kolkatta based company for guitar and pretty solid i must say).
will range 2500 -3500 bucks
regards

Ah, the guitar. Picked it up in college and have been loving the instrument ever since. The Red Machine and the old days Circa 2003. A cheap, 700-buck acoustic which I picked up from a shady Kochi music store... Nicknamed the Red Machine by my friends Learnt all the chords I could on it, and then some... Tried very hard to try a few solos on it.
The Defender and the college band Bought a custom-made electric guitar that was based on a Yamaha that was based on the Strat... So I called it the Defender - Deepak's Fender
Had lots of fun with it - learnt the solo of Hotel California on it, and a cute amp called 'Johnson' (!) which had decent built-in overdrive. Had fun with my college band for 3 years... And played for a year in Chennai when I was working and tried hard to move beyond chords. MICA and the Givson When I joined MICA, I used their Givson which was infinitely better than the Defender and a sexy Laney amp (drool!) and am currently using those. Man, I now believe that having good gear can make you a better guitarist... I've got better since coming to MICA - sense of soloing has improved and I can play Comfortably Numb now. What next?
I want a better guitar for myself - so I'm going to get myself an Ibanez for 15k or so... Coming to Mumbai on the 29th to check out guitars \m/ at Bhargava's. What do I like?
I listen to everything from the Goo Goo Dolls to Iron Maiden, and I love both bands. I love playing blues-based stuff and I don't follow scales too much - I just pick up what notes sound right on the scale and fool around. Our band at MICA has a kick-ass keyboard player, so a lot of our compositions start off that way.
I can also play decent, working bass.
I love being in a band... Learnt lots and lots of things Favourites
Of all time: David Gilmour.
But currently, Warren Mendonsa owns. That guy is... God!

Cheers, | Apurv... One question... In a place like Mumbai do people really get space to jam? I mean, to jam you need a more or less soundproof place which won't bug the nearby populace... With drums, I mean...
A guitarist and a keyboardist can jam together in one bedroom... But for the whole band together...
