Are you in Mumbai? My band and a few others are going to IIEF, which is like an event for the entire event management industry. I hear its pretty big. Lot of networking opportunities there.

TV channel... well not in India at least... i m not sure if they telecast it on British TV channels..
ITs a competition where guitarists can submit their original rec. in audio or video formats .. Good players are shortlisted and get to compete live .. the organizers have even uploaded some backing tracks to jam on and make a recording and submit..
Its public voting over internet so u can find the contestants all over the place on YouTube asking for votes..
Do have a look ..there are pretty good entries..
My favs last year were Daneille Gottardo, Cesar Huesca and Gustavo Guerra (who eventually won the 2008 season)
There are good entries this yr too...

Wow! A guitar thread on PG!!
I've been playing guitar for like some 5 years now.
Currently me playing synth for my band "Highway 61". We are based in pune & very recently formed. Managed only one big show at Shanivarwada so far.
We have 10 -12 original songs (all registered ) & would like to record them. ( and hopefully get an album out! ) Our genere is Hindi/sufi Rock.

Lately I am listening to AVIAL which is a Malayalam Rock band! .. Awesome is not the word!! .. the music is so good that language hardly matters..
AVial has bagged up most of the awards at this yrs annual Jack Daniel rock awards.. do check them out

Avial is good,although i don't understand the lyrics and stuffs. Junkyard Groove from Chennai are also good. I would totally root for them!!

The best songs on the album are Nada Nada (the title track) and Chekele.

Mallus swept the awards actually, with Avial winning 6 awards, Bruce Lee Mani (TAAQ) bagging the best guitarist and Suraj Mani (Motherjane) taking the best vocalist award. Oh wait, Motherjane's drummer (John Thomas) won the best drummer award too! Woohoo!
