Your views on gays/bisexuality...? - 11-03-2008, 09:20 PM

I know this is a controversial thing to ask but what are ur guys/girls views on homosexuality/gays and bisexuality?

Do u respect them or look down on them? Are u perfectly comfortable wid them or make fun/insult them in real life? After all, sexual orientation is not a matter of choice?? Anyone among us could have been a gay or a bi right?

Can you elaborate the purpose of this thread?

I feel that these days sexual orientation has become a matter of choice rather than one being born with it.

I would like to think of myself as a liberal guy. I don't have any openly gay friends, so am not entirely sure how I would behave around them (I would like to believe that I wont be uncomfortable around them).

Homosexuality is a taboo topic in India and people do shy away from talking about it (Seems like it is true for PG too, 117 views and only 1 reply) but that is not what troubles me. What troubles me is the fact that our laws even now consider homosexuality to be a crime and that many homosexuals have been persecuted by the police and the public to some extent because of this law (and also to some extent because of the lack of evolution in thought in our society ). I dont think the state has any business dictating what a sexual orientation of a citizen should be. I think if the law changes it would to some extent bring about a change in peoples behavior (Atleast I hope that would happen). Unfortunately I dont think the politics in India will let the government of the day do something about it.

To the rest of your questions no I don't make fun of them, insult them or look down on them. Also I do think that bisexuality is a choice (and also bloody greedy may I add.).

Regards

I concur with Gabriel666.

Homosexuality is still a taboo in India whereas today we will find countless homosexual/gay/lesbian people around the globe taking pride in what they consider is what makes them both gratified and liberated.

I believe, I will not find it repulsive if I find out that one of my friend is homosexual, although I will surely make it a point never to get drunk with him or anything. I have read various articles published in numerous magazines and newspapers about lesbians getting together, marrying maybe adopting a child. I think it is kinda O.K. Marriage is not just about reproduction but about having someone for you all the time and if the couple doesn't have a problem, I think it really doesn't matter what the world thinks.

I think bisexuality is not always a choice. From what I have read and come to understand is that some people just cannot control their sexual desires that they have grown up with. However, many people might just indulge in bisexuality for the sake of experimentation. Also, I do believe bisexuality is more prevalent on the feminine side and don't really understand why any guy would have a problem with that.

I couldn't agree with you more brother. Still, lets try and make posts specific to the topic of the thread.

This thread isn't getting many posts. Does it mean that it's a taboo topic to discuss on? Or is it that people don't have enough to talk about it?

I think, homosexuality is more often something you are born with. Some believe that people develop such orientation with time, mainly because of the environment they grow up in. I guess it's not completely true either.

It doesn't really bother me if any of my friends is homosexual. In fact, I have some.

I believe the same. Being bisexual/gay is often something you can't help than it being a choice.

I have some queries.

Do animals also have such feelings?, or it's only in human beings who have the extra brains to think.
May be there are some people who turn to homosexuality cos they aren't successful in getting a partner. This again could be because of increasing of the male:female ratio leading to more competition... hehe am thinking too much
