Orite! I lob this topic

Exit Interviews are like Bollywood movie dream sequences. Especially in bad jobs. The fact that the exist allows you to distress so often after imagining a session with you boss that includes all sorts of venting out. In my opinion that’s the specialty. It doesn’t matter what kind of exit interview you finally land up having. It just makes your life easier by its existence. So here s to exit interviews cheers

Ok now for my experiences I’ve given two of them.

1)I was with an niche agency. I had started of on a wrong note as I was put on a profile which I was not appointed for as a stop gap arrangement for some sort and then people forgot to move me back. My creating a fuss about it was not taken well and for 1-1.5 Yrs I’ve lived through a boss and typically have thrived ob thoughts of wt all I am going to give back.

But I was too excited on my last day to give anything back. In order not to spoil mood I said politically correct things and moved out K :bad-word:
Not that I regret it. But since I was moving out I was like %^^& it! Doesn’t matter weather they improve things. Why do I care
SomeQ: Will you want to work at #$%% again in future.
AnS: If there is a profile tht suits me why not. (liar liar )

2)Cute old Grand father type of boss and me It’s basically repetitions from snippets of all conversations we’ had ever since I out in papers put up on a collage. .

Boss: So you’ve made up your mind.
Moi: yes sir,
Boss: And you don’t even wanna give a thought to calling your break a sabbatical and consider coming back later? I can give you another site if you want…
Moi: Please don’t embarrass me sir. I’ve learnt a lot here. But this is not what I wanna do.
Boss: And you are not leaving because of client?
Moi: Sir I think my relationship with her is now pretty stable. Client is definitely no reason.
Boss: You know youngsters like you should fight harder.
Moi : Yes sir.
Boss: so what do u wanna do next
Moi: (long reply)
Boss: let us know if anyone else would like to join servicing.
Moi: Sure sir. I’ve already spoken to some people who would be interested. Will Mail you the CVs’
Boss: ok all the best.
Moi: Thank you sir. All handover files are in the folder that I passed you. But if u need anything, pls do call me anytime.

Bas over! Only thing pending was boss singing “babul ke duwaienn “ for me

Its been almost three years to this day since my last exit interview

My first job drove me and

Called up the General Manager and asked for 5 minutes.

GM: Sure,Come in.
Moi: Sir, I have come to submit my resignation from the organisation

GM: Where have you got?

Moi: Sir, No where

GM: You are leaving without a job?

Moi: Yes, Sir

GM: What do you plan to do btw?

Moi: Sir, I want to be a IT Coolie

GM reads the letter for 5 minutes

GM: Alright, ATB

Moi : Thanks a lot Sir

Hope to put up another exit on this very thread, very soon

Re: Resignation Experience - Exit Interview, etc. - 08-04-2008, 02:22 PM

here come the day i have been waiting for!
My exit interview,
my last day at work,
My last day in this particular cubicle,
my last day in this particular building,
My last day in this office!!!!
my last day in this IT industry!!!!!! (as a coding monkey)
let me start from the beginning,
It was a week after I got my lone call convert!
One week i killed in office waiting for my so called bonus interview.

Finally the day came when I had one on one with my manager!!!

it started with an discussion about my past performance, she said "This is what you have done, visiting all community sites, spending most of the working hours in stock trading, chatting blah blah..
and i say but i did work.
then she says again "but you could have worked better, you could have done better"
and i say i tried.
Then it was about how I can be a role model for new comers..
Someone was laughing inside me.. someone was telling me "you and role model "
I kept quiet, i said nothing.
the discussion went on for an hour or less....
finally she closes her laptop open s the door, and i was still engrossed in my thoughts thinking what do to next, CAT 08 or join the school which offered me a seat..
and then she asks "anything else"
i look at her and say "yes"
she says "what?"
i say "I wanna resign......"
it was kind of shock for her.. she went into the details, offered me help (thinking that i am quitting because of some other problem) asked me why, when where..
and then asked, "you should have informed us that you are planning for higher studies, we wouldn't have expected much from you "
i was how? how can I tell you that..
and thats it i submitted my resignation letter..and felt like i wa waiting for this moment eternally.

Now comes the exit interview part:
its just me n HR in a tiny discussion room which has 2 doors,
one exit and other for the generator,!
the noise of generator was bit irritating.
The moment i entered it i felt like leaving it, same thing with my workplace.
The day i joined it started thinking of quitting it!

HR says: would you liek to say something.
I say lot of things.
HR says what it is?
I say there are lot of flaws in company policies.
you make each and every employee work for certain number of hours per year,
you bill the client accordingly, but if employee has failed to complete these hours you ask him to pay to the company?
You make employee work certain number of hours per week still you have certain number of leaves allocated.
You make him stay in the office just to complete those hours even if he doesn't have much work. You kill his family life, you kill his social life and you still expect him to give you the best!
There are lot of families working in this building, just because of this certain number of hours they choose to come at different time and leave at different time.
You do not provide cab / bus facility, you force each and every employee to come on / in individual vehicles hence causing global warming, increasing Bangalore traffic. Polluting bangalore...
and you still expect the employee to give his best!
she kept quiet
after a moment of silence she says anything else?
i say no with a smile.
then the informal discussion continued about where i am going, which stream am I going for blah blah..
Finally i am done!!!!!
Done with this chapter of my life
anything which comes next will definitely be better

Just resigned from my office.

Dunno why, may be it's different from other exp. but I still like my work place a lot.

It's given me so many learnings. Hard toil which me and our team put together (around 7 months
we were eating, sleeping, living in office)

Will miss these awesome guys a lot.

I'll post my detailed experience along with exit intvw exp soon.

Well, this is not my personal experience. It's of a friend of mine. It's pretty funny, so can't resist.

My friend was frustrated doing the Testing job in IT company. It was nothing other that ctrl+C & ctrl+V as he would put it in words. He had not applied outside for interview nor has got any job outside. He had not even given a thought to his resignation until the time came.

Bear, in mind that he just wanted to leave the company because he was frustrated.

He was just sitting in office. He suddenly gets up & says he is resigning. And, goes in a cabin of his boss.

Friend : May, I see you for 2 minute?

Boss : Yes.

Friend : I want to resign.

Boss : Reason ?

Friend : Sir, I want to prepare for GATE exam. (However that was not the reason )

Boss : When is your exam?

Friend : After half & a month.

Boss : Ok. Take a leave till the time & join again.

Friend : (Speechless ) Ok. Sir.

Then, he did not even take a leave. Continued job. And, yeah, you guessed it, he is still there.....

We laughed like hell we got to know this.

Moral : Tell the true reason why you wanted to leave job.
