since hypothetical ramblings are allowed on this thread, here goes moi dream exit interview.
Characters in the intvw:
H. HR guy(rolly polly guy, loves to hang out more at the on-campus Dominos)
B. Boss(ruff and gruff)
M. Moi(seedha saadha bechara coder)
H. Nice shirt. Is that a Lou Phillips?
M. Actually its a Peter England .
H. (...coughs a little)err..I see I see..So TGS tell us, why you want to leave GREAT COMPANY?
M. Sir I was contemplating on those lines for long.
H. Really?..How interesting!
Now B intervenes.
B. Dont you think you are being rather rude to this GREAT COMPANY after we have provided you with ample oppurtunities to prove yourself and you failed at every single instance?
M. Sir there are two kinds of people in this company. Those who always fail and those who never fail. I think life is interesting on both sides of the wall.
H. okay so you are good with words.(finally he acquiesced ).Now tell us REALLY why you want to leave this GREAT COMPANY?
M. Because I'm bored with the dung cleaning work i do every single day of my working hours. i'm frustrated with that cage sized cubicle i work in and that stupid Timesheet where i have to fill in my daily activity as if i am a batch job running on Time. I wish to Abend now .
H.
B. (outside)
B. (inside: i wish i could put in a performance like that a few years ago)
M. Adios Gentlemen, heres' hoping against hope that our path may never cross again.
what do you think Puys..Aisa interview hua toh kaisa hoga. BTW it was just a fictional piece of work. Any resemblances to actual circumstances and events are regrettable ....
cheers,

Hey all,
I just put in my papers yesterday
But as nitin says, I did enjoy my job quite a bit.
I learnt so many things here, right from being a software coolie to leading a team and mentoring quite a good no. of people
I shall always cherish my work experience. Most importantly, its because of my boss that I had such a great time at work. He is a real gem to work with and I owe all the managerial learinings to him
As they say - ' You dont leave your company, you leave your boss!'. I am glad i dont fall in that category.
I am waiting for my exit interview now which shall be in a months time
Till then,
cheers,
kusnoor.

Moi too put in my papers today ...
Exit interview is after another 2 months...
But my reporting manager and I had a conversation
Me : Hi XXX, I have resigned, please accept it
He: He was more happy than me ..So you got it in a B-School? (Shakes my hands violently while talking )
Me : Yes.
He : So sick of coding is it?
Me :Its not like that ...(and then the typical Why MBA? answer)
He : satisified (Interview panel were not in most of the interviews with the same answer )
So after passing out you are just gonna boss around people eh?
Me : Not like that (was amazed at his perception of an MBA degree , cannot blame him , he is a hardcore technical guy..Had to explain what all I would be doing after MBA etc etc..)
Finally gave him the sweets I had brought and asked him to relieve me early..Ya, it was sort of a bribe
So , best to luck to all Puys and may all of you get the opportunity to have an exit interview very soon..
BTW , ,me joining IMT-G(Finance) as of now if MDI does not convert..
Work Ex: 19 months IMT-G(Fin) batch of 2010

Hi All,
Its great that people are going to their dream B Schools and have finally resigned, but do remember this experience is going to help you. Be it good or a bad experience, trust me, it will count. You can appreciate some HR and OB concepts better, will easily gel into the summer internship etc.
Just bury the bitter memories with your boss or HR or any other person and leave on a good note. Take my advice, it will help. However sadist you feel your boss is, if you keep in touch; people will appreciate and who knows, he/she can be of great help.
Dont leave with a fight..nothing is worse than that
All the best to all !!!
P.S. - HR - Human Resource; OB - Organizational Behaviour Read what I went through to reach IIMC here and continues here Know what am I going thru in IIMC here

The one month notice period in my company is not mandatory and all actually depends on your PM. Those who are on bench in fact get released in one week. I share a good rapport with my PM and I had arranged with him to resign official only a week before my actual last day on 10th July so that I get my June salary upfront before leaving. On 11th June I went to him and informed him that my last day would be 10th July (exactly 3 years of experience to the day) and reminded him of the arrangement mentioned above.
I was down with fever and at home on 12th June. While checking my official mail from home I came across a mail from my PM saying "Please call me." On calling him, he said that he feared that the HR might create problem as everyone else not on bench normally is asked to give 1 month notice. So he asked me to put in my resignation on the same day.
So it was official. My notice period started on 12th June, a Thursday and my last day would be 10th July. Come the following Monday I come to know that my project has been withdrawn by the client and the everyone in the project is being released on 30th June. I think that for the first time I will be experience bench life the last days of my IT career.
But no, my company does not keep experienced guys on the bench and since I cannot be allocated anywhere for 10 days, my last day was advanced to 30th June, the same day as the last day of everyone in the project!
It's a strange feeling. Somehow it lessens the impact of missing my company once I leave since even if I do not leave the company, I won't be in this project. But then again there's this kind of sad feeling that I am not leaving any imprint in this company as this is the only project I have been in since I joined. There no longer will be anyone who will say "Abhishek worked on this module." When I meet someone on gtalk later on, I won't be able to ask "What's up in the project these days?"
Only 2 more working days to go including today and I frankly am not sure what I will feel when I walk out of the exit for the last time... --- Abhishek.
