hi ,
The chances of getting an allotment in an IPO all boil down to the luck factor which is in turn affected by a no. of factors like ...oversubscription for a particular scrip , the quantity (no. of shares) for which u apply ...and the basis of allotment ..etc
The shares are generally alloted in a certain ratio for no. of applications received in that category ...For eg : In a retail category , if the bid lot is ..15 shares ...then bids will be received in the form of 15 , 30 , 45 , 60 shares and so on ...and each is a separate distinct category ...and depending on the no. of applications received in that category ...the allotment for shares is finalised .....
Needless to say ...the higher the no. of shares u bid for ...the higher the chances for u to procuring allotment ....until and unless the scrip is HEAVILY oversubscribed as in case for saskens ....
Happy investing till then
