Re: [2008]F1 Season - 04-04-2008, 04:03 PM

A little info on Bahrain Circuit:

The circuit is full of long straights which demand stability under braking and good accelaration thereafter.

1.Aerodynamics - Due to lack of high speed corners we can find teams going in for less downforce resulting in lots of slipping

2.Brakes - Since the track demands huge braking in the corners after fast straights, this is the most significant parameter to look for. With track and surrounding temperatures running high, cooling of brakes can be a major issue. Found something interesting - Look what Ferrari has in store for countering this problem: http://www.formula1.com/news/technical/2008/788/515.html
Also since engine braking system has been discontinued we can expect drievrs to make lots of mistakes which means loads of overtaking

3.Tyres - Since there are not many high speed corners tyre performance is not a major consideration here. But yes high track temperature and presence of sand can make things difficult for drivers by reducing the grip

P.S Friday Practice Results show possible good run for Ferraris. Keeping my fingers crossed

Found an interesting site which gives loads of information about driving racing cars. Topics range from Car Control, Driving Techniques, Tecnology used in racing cars. Thought you people might be interested.

I was going thru this article which describes how to achieve the prefect racing line while turning in a corner.

Well thank god, that the action has shifted from MAx mosley's scandal to on track events.

Ferrari is really looking with Massa and kimi topping the time sheets in both the sessions.

Hamilton made a mistake at the end of the Practice 2 and hence, his car isnt in the best of conditions.

My predictions for qualifing:

1. Massa
2. Kimi
3. Kovalninen

Re: [2008]F1 Season - 05-04-2008, 06:10 PM

Surprise showing by Kubica at Qualifying...
Perfectly set-up for an eventful start tho! Top 4:

1. Kubica
2. Massa
3. Hamilton
4. Kimi

Kimi this season looks increasingly like following the same strategy every race: Fuel heavier at quali, get in somewhere in the top few and then pip the others in the pit stops - did it in the last race too...a strategy that worked well for Ferrari in the MSC days (tho schumi would get pole even with the heavier load!), looks like Kimi's following the great man's footsteps!

My predictions:

1. Kimi
2. Ham
3. Massa

I don't reckon Massa'll be able to keep out Hamilton and Kimi after the pit stops - if not the first then the second ...it should be grand start tho because the Ferrari's are faster of the blocks and both are 1 place behind.
