Online CAT,
78 questions like GMAT.
2 sections- English and QA.
Maximum Marks 800
Surprise Factor- The IIM's do it again

On a serious note- Have an OPEN mind and NEVER try to predict CAT

Re: Unwind Yourself - CAT 2007 Format Speculations, Discussions -

 My take..
Sections 3
Questions:26,26,26(78in total)
Options: 5
Negative marking: +4,-1
X factor:
1. VA : CR questions/SC questions/small RCs followed by more than 5-6 questions/FIJs
2. DI: more logical sets, Return of DS
3. QA: One more time easy quant section
And my logic behind reasoning..Rumours of Cat going the Gmat way ..and an indication of it in cat 2006

Re: Unwind Yourself - CAT 2007 Format Speculations, Discussions -
06-11-2007, 12:15 PM
Sections:QA,DI,EU
Questions: 25,25,25 (They would restore their tarnished image after the last year's paper with the same number of questions.)
Options: 5
Negative marking: +4,-1
Max marks: 300
X factor:
1. VA(tough but devoid of ambiguities) : Only RC and CR questions, the former consituting the major chunk of the section.
2. DI(Overall above average ..tougher than cat 2006): 1 easy set(as if any one could walk in and solve), 2 very tough sets(the trap) and 2 average sets(tough to spot though).
3. QA: Average quant section(Like cat 2005) with few wordy problems.

My opinion about CAT 2007.............
sections 3- VA QA DI
Marking-----+4, -1
No of Questions----------75-85
No of questions is unlikely to come down further....
QA---Should be slightly tougher than CAT 06
DI--- Should be more or less the same difficulty level...May see return of DS...possibly may also get
one set in solid DI ( The calculation oriented sets which used to come around 2000--03.)
VA--- I guess this section might be diluted a bit...still should remain the toughest section
in the test....no ambiguities expected this time around though...should mainly have RCs, some critical reasoning....summary might make a comeback...Might see paragraph completion being scrapped.

My take
No of Questions :90
30 each
Differential marking back.similar to CAT 05
Difficulty level similar to CAT 05
ie quant and DI being tough.VA being moderate.........
cheers

No one can guess CAT 2007 format, no matter how much attempts you will make it to guess it, on D -DAY it will throw the surprise.
After thinking a lot,my take on VA section:
it will full of passages may be 5 or may be 7.. all the questions including VA, FJIs, Vocab etc. will be on these passages!
DI:
it will not be new age DI, as these insti is giving in Mocks, it will be normal DI!
QA:
this will be the deciding factor between IIM material & non IIM material.
if 18th is your day & u can crack QA, thats it!
then this is definitely your last CAT!
number of questions:
total 99
it will be progressive -ve marking!
