Thanks Hobbes, Trail Blazer
Trail Blazer - I am no expert but since you asked for suggestions

I think you should work on the framing. The two things I think are important with photography - 1) Subject selection 2) Framing.
The other technical aspects (filters/aperture/shutter speed/etc) are not quite so relevant - unless you are a professional photographer.
Your subject selection is quite good - but the subject should be highlighted with minimal distractions. When you are taking photographs in macro mode - you may want to have more light on the subject so that everything else goes into a background(shadow). You may even consider taking macro mode shots against dark backgrounds - to emphasize the subject.
I prefer taking landscapes because they are simple

and you really dont have to think a lot about the subject

- however - with landscapes - the ambient lighting is important - and you may want to take these photographs during certain hours of the day (preferably between 9am to 11am - when it is bright but not TOO bright). Also, try using filters (the green in your photographs - it is way too green :P as against the rest of the colours - filters will enhance other colours as well).

cheers!
