1) El Nino translates, literally, into Little Christ if I remember right. Thats because it pops in to spoil the Christmas cheer. Its a complex arrangement of warm currents and temperature/pressure alternations which do not let nutrient rich water rise alongside Peru, Chile and such ruinin the fishing business.
