Richard Feynman?
We've all heard that half a million monkeys banging on a million typewriters will eventually reproduce the entire works of Shakespeare. Now, thanks to the Internet, we know that's not true.

Hi everyone
First the answers.
1. What are chinese space travellers called?
Ans. Taikonauts. DonB and Moonstruck got it right.
2. Who said, " I will be the last Englihman to rule India"?
Ha Ha Ha. Gotcha people on this. Only shrikanth K could naswer that. Jawahar Lal Nehru. while he was talking to J.K. Gailbraith.
3. Whats the connection between Mahmoud Abbas, Munich and Catherine Zita Jones?
Hats off Simon. That was the hardest. Mahmoud Abbas was mastermind behind it. Munich was the place of Black september attack As to Mrs Jones well the link was that she is wife to Michael Douglas who has acted in a movie based on that incident. That sep 25 thing is a new revelation to me too.
4. Which Physicist was popularly known as "****".
Ans. Who else than Richard Feynman. The strred word was incidentally put on banner titled "GOOD BYE ****" at Cal tech as a mark of respect. good work Ranjitha and shrikanth
5. Which Indian city gets its name from the demon king, Mahishasura?
Mysore. Shrikanth and Donb gave the right one.
So at the end of it Shrikanth walked away with the honours but none the less great work from yu all.
Thanks

Never Say Die -
21-06-2005, 04:39 PM
Hi friends!!!!
after the first quiz i posted i thought let this be a theme quiz. The Theme of this Quiz is " NEVER SAY DIE" . All you have to do is to identify the personality or the group.
Happy Quizzing.
1.A sitter to start with. Officials rejected a candidate for a news broadcasters post since his voice was not fit for a news broadcaster. He was also told that with his obnoxiously long name, he would never be famous. Name the candidate?
--------------------------------------------
2. Another easy one.In 1962, four nervous young musicians played their first record audition for the executives of the Decca recording Company. The executives were not impressed. While turning down this group of musicians, one executive said, "We don't like their sound. Groups of guitars are on the way out." Name the group.
--------------------------------------------
3. In 1944, Emmeline Snively, director of the Blue Book Modelling Agency told modelling hopeful Norma Jean Baker, "You'd better learn secretarial work or else get married." Identify the personality. Oh 'Boy' thats so familiar.
--------------------------------------------
4. In 1954, Jimmy Denny, manager of the Grand Ole Opry, Fired a singer after one performance. He told him, "You ain't goin' nowhere.... son. You ought to go back to drivin' a truck." Who was this singer?
-------------------------------------------
5. In the 1940s, another young inventor named Chester Carlson took his idea to 20 corporations, including some of the biggest in the country. They all turned him down. In 1947, after 7 long years of rejections, he finally got a tiny company in Rochester, NY, the Haloid company, to purchase the rights to his invention -- an electrostatic paper-copying
process. Haloid became ?
------------------------------------------
6. A little girl - the 20th of 22 children, was born prematurely and her survival was doubtful. When she was 4 years old, she contracted double pneumonia and scarlet fever, which left her with a paralysed left leg. At age 9, she removed the metal leg brace she had been dependent on and began to walk without it. By 13 she had developed a rhythmic walk, which doctors said was a miracle. That same year she decided to become a runner.
She entered a race and came in last. For the next few years every race she entered, she came in last. Everyone told her to quit, but she kept on running. One day she actually won a race. And then another. From then on she won every race she entered. Eventually this little girl - went on to win three Olympic gold medals. Who I am talking about? The toughest one.
----------------------------------------
I wil be on a vac for 10 days so would not be able to post the answers but i hope all of yu will be able to crack it.
Adios
Priyadarshi

1. He represented Middlesex, England and Holkar in cricket. Played professional football for Arsenal. Was a member of the FA cup winning team in 1950. Hit the winning runs in England's memorable Ashes victory in 1953 after a gap of 20 yrs. Scored a triple century in three hours in a first class match. Who am I talking about?
