1)PLUTO stands for pipeline under the ocean.it was used to supply fuel to the allied forces during and after the D-Day landings in Normandy.(the name of the operation was operation overlord)

2)it was florence.

3)simon got this one right.they contain all the vowels in the right order(me thinks they are the only two words like that)

4)yep simon got it right again.its George Bernard Shaw

5)it was by the great admiral Horatio Nelson.both of ya got it right QE and simon.

I think the s/w also was developed by X3D Technologies(now known as Opticality Corp.).It was deep blue that was developed by IBM which lost 2 Kasparov.
