That is what my point is , that you just cant compare one functionality of Microsoft with Mozilla....Beacuse, you have to keep in mind that Microsft launched IE not just a s a browser but to win market for its OS and sustain that leadership. And hence it will be foolish to compare the Microsoft and Mozilla.
However, I do agree that Mozilla was a better choice than IE till IE 7 arrived.

But nevermind...I do get your point...
What I was trying to point out was that Microsoft/Windows isnt the best at everything it does/offers...Hope I was finally able to convey that...!!!! Quote:

2 more points..
Google says "dont be evil"
now is porn good or evil....1 out of 4 searches is for porn...nd google guyz benefit heavily from porn ads...they can do even without it...nd still make profit...
they advocate cost per click advertising which supports false hits on ads...compare this with snap.com search...which is cost per transaction...
clearly latter is client friendly...google guyz dictate terms coz they have fan following..isnt that monopoly... | | | | | The Following 3 Users Say Thank You to The0ne For This Useful Post: | | | | | |

Not being evil btw means being fair, and they have been as fair as they can be.Don't expect 0 flaws. However cliched it may sound but there is always a better way to do things.Just spare a thought for what they have done. Quote:

Also, what is wrong with the concept of google news. They collate the news from all accross the net for a topic desired by you and present it.So where is the catch,i can't figure it out.whhat do you mean by they are copy-pasting,they are not a news agency that they will come out with their own reports.

After reading an article on IE7 (most probably by a MS insider), I thot it might wipe out Firefox, but after using it I am sure Firefox is here to stay..

I first laid my hands on Linux way back on Redhat 7 I guess. Mounting partitions, looking up packages, poor hardware support, it was a pain up my ar$e Then I removed Linux. I didnt even know how to delete a Linux partition back then and somehow lost all the data on my computer (GBs of mp3s I had downloaded on my dial-up internet connection ) Learnt a thing or two. Keeda was still there. I installed Fedora that I got from my college lab. Things didnt work for me, still. Painful experience. Didnt look at Linux for a long time.
After that I laid my hands on SuSE 9. Partitions got mounted themselves. I was glad. But it took me a day to figure out how sound will come up. By default, sound level (in older linux distros?) was set to ZERO and I had tough time figuring out where the sound control was located. Amarok(the default player didnt have out of box mp3 support) The fonts were also harsh on eyes, though I figured out how to change them to Micorsoft-like fonts. Still I was glad Linux had come a long way as I could play music files which were there on NTFS partitions from within Linux. Writing to those partitions was also possible, I heard, but I never tried figuring out how. Fair enough. Learnt using Linux for a few things that couldnt be done very well on Windows.
Recently installed OpenSUSE 10.2, big leap forward I must say, Audio - worked out of the box. Default music player is Helix Banshee - excellent (plays mp3s out of the box). Browser - Firefox.Linux has a lot of things to admire which a person who uses computer only for checking emails and listening to songs can never do. It comes loaded with Feed Reader, Open Office, GAIM (the baap of all messengers with multi-protocol capability wherein you can use Y!, MSN, AIM, IRC, Jabber etc, all at the same time). Mind you, it is a 3 gig+ DVD and contains plethora of applications. It gives you option wherein you can choose the applications that you'd like to be installed in order to save space by not installing the applications that you'd never use.
And someone said Linux is not popular because pirated softwares for it are not available. Pirated softwares for Linux? Man, they are free! Everything that you will ever need will come in just one DVD that you can download for 'free'. If you need anything else, just look up the internet, you will get the things for free, and genuine. Oh heck, I know what you're thinking now! Overall, awesome hardware support and a lot more from a community that shares it for free.
Oh yes, I still have a dual boot system cos I just cant get enough of XP. But when on weed, I use Linux. "Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy."
