I don't understand why Mr. man_friday is not participating in the discussion
|
In order to participate in the discussion i would first need someone to post a coherent reply to the original post. If people are just going to use the find option in their browsers to search for words like "panties" and "ass" and then shout walalalalala like immature bufoons, who thought till they were fifteen, that babies were born because a husband and wife breathe the same air, then naturally no discussion will ensue.

I apologise for introducing myself as plumber's friend. Just thought I'd give him some credit for introducing me to the forum. Didn't realise that it was going to link him to me for eternity to the point where people are claiming that we are clones. I assure you that everything we post is completely our own individual opinions.

Hahahahaha...... u really got the point of the whole article didn't you. I went through the trouble of writing that whole thing just to defame some random woman. Let me dumb it down for you. The point I was trying to make by mentioning the said picture was that seven people have died in an accident and the Mumbai "MIRROR" (ooo....finally I got it right) have posted a picture of a dancer near their article on the subject just to gain cheap publicity. In other words MUMBAI "MIRROR" (wow...i'm getting good at this) = TABLOID. TABLOID = BAD. Is that simple enough for you to understand, or should I try rhyming the sentences and then pull out a bunch of stuffed animals to explain the point to you with?

I certainly hope you are not suggesting that shit and compliances are synonms. Even if you are talking about the contextual meaning. When I say artistic shit, I am implying that in my opinion jazzing up posts with fonts and the likes is unnecessary. The word compliances does not convey this. Plus let's face it. it's longer and I'm a lefty.
P.S. before anyone else comments, l was not implying that shit is artistic.

As usual dissatisfied with the title of the thread... It should have been titled "Indian Judiciary: Pros and Cons" or something on the line.. Then you could have explained a few cases like Priyadarshni Mattoo, Nitish Katara, GoI vs. Court and offered ur take in the first post. After that it wud have been better had u mentioned that Judiciary always somehow manages to stay away fro controversy despite a none too good track record. Let us discuss it here.
And then second post should have contained that satire. With a bit more light on facts.
Rather you again narrowed it down to a disparate incident in Mumbai
|
Subodh.... You have once again proven yourself to be a genius worthy of worship. I think all threads should first be run by you, so you can title them appropriately and then you could decide what all of us should post. That after all is the purpose of an 'open' discussion. Perhaps you could also name our children for us. Would also like to mention that this so called disparate incident is a topic of discussion on various forums including one run by a small organisation called the Trash of Islamabad.

Agreed. Here are the questions that the post was suppossed to initiate (that's until you guys filled your head with spinach and decided to air to a new member of the site just how pathetic your powers of understanding are)
1. Do you think that the judiciary is corrupt and that judges are being bought in cases where the opposite parties are from contrasting economic stratas of society?
2. Do you think that the press unfairly let's the judiciary off the hook in these case while placing the blame squarely on the police's shoulders?
3. Why is it that in this particular case no feasible explanation was given by the defence as to why the accident occured?
4. Should these cases not be tried in front of a jury?
5. Do you think that the public outrage at the leniency of the sentence will have any effect on the outcome of the pending appeal? (Police are appealing the decision)

I just want to say 1 thing here that its ok if people want to write and use their creativity but what is this happening?threads are started and most of the people instead of churning out their own ideas, start dissecting what others said and instead of commenting on issues they are just ridiculing sm statement or sm1's usage of language and use of words. This is really amazing hw mch time people waste on posting topics which they do not wish getting smthng out of.Well for me i m kindaa getting sick of chit chat section cause its just becoming a adda for spammers.

Mr.Man_Friday,
I have been following your posts. At the very outset I would like to congratulate you by the splash you have made. I have not known too many people who have successfully raked up such long threads in such a short presence. I would ask you to continue doing the same. We need people like you in this forum
However, I have a couple of things which some other people mentioned which I want to put up in a re-hashed manner. I know its hard taking criticism from anyone and definitely don't consider this as one. Its just constructive feedback. I hope you are open towards this. If not then you can choose to ignore it
Bas do baatein hain - shuru hone ke pehle khatam ho jaayengi. Promise
(1) Use of language. Do you know what really pulls down a great post? Some casually used words stringed together in an ambiguos context. So my take is that if you use words that you would normally not use in front of your (say) parents then the impact of your post tends to get dissipated. I mean real life mein aap mujhe milo mein toh saare female-relatives waali gaali hi deta hoon But posts pe woh jhachta nahee. Bas itni si baat hai.
(2) Non-participation. Not just on the thread themselves but on other areas too. Maybe you want to introduce yourself. Maybe you want to go around other threads and give your inputs. That way people know you not just as plumber's friend. Infact plumber himself is a good example - he posts on myraid threads.
Baaki rahee baat on things like "thread topic" etc. woh toh yaar tum jaano aur apna better judgement use karo. I won't say anything on that.
I hope you understood what I am saying. If you feel I am biased and prejudiced in anyway you can always choose to ignore me or even put a "groan"
Take care and hoping to see more informative posts from you.
Everyone else - lets focus on the topic and matter and NOT the manner it has been written. The point has been beaten to death now.
Cheers !
Arun

Its good that you actually want to bring up relevant topics for discussion here. But the tone of your posts negates all that effort. To me it seems forced. I mean why turn every second line sarcastic if all you want is a proper discussion? Sarcasm if overused loses its charm.
On one hand though I find your writing skills admirable, I feel that they are more suitable for a blog where you can post without any getting offended by your language. And if your intention is to really carry on a discussion, I request you tone down your language.

|
Do I need to tell you that I am entitled to my opinion. And I gave reasons why I feel the title should be something like that. U call ToI a trash and mention it as a benchmark. Ur staire is just playing around with words dude..
Tomorrow if I want to discuss the plight of Haryana farmers vis-a-vis Relaince Land acquisition I will not start Should Ajay Chowdhary's land be acquired?" Rather will use some generic title like SEZ Land Acquisition. Then I wud have explained a little bit of background in the first post. And finally mebbe a satire or an elaboration about Haryana farmers plight.
If you will look at my threads (I have started only a few), you will realize that people do not post irrelevant content there because I do not leave scope for ambiguity and still make the contents generic enuf. The only reason I am still lecturing you (It does not have anything to do with Plumber) is because you have potential and can really contribute a lot. But then you lack the coolness required to start a healthy discussion. Remember all path-breaking movements start discreetly. And if you continue in this hot-headed indiscreetness you might well start getting dead responses except those of Plumber.
PsychoD and MvB have beautifully captured what was deficient in ur threads.
1) The initial post failed to give any direction to the thread.
2) Satire should not be introduced just for the heck of it.
3) Non-Participation
Some threads where you can enlighten us by your Gyaan/Satires are:
1. http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/chit-c...overnment.html
2. http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/chit-c...dy-laloos.html
3. http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/chit-c...ot-if-you.html
4. http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/your-i...k-reviews.html
5. http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/chit-c...conundrum.html
And yes, if I had been the Mod, I would have edited the title and the first post, even if that meant submitting a resignation itself. My opinion only.
Quote:

|
Now you realize the problem. What should have been in the first post is posted in 12th-13th or whatever. Anyways my take:
1. Why the Question? Yes, Judges are bought and everyone knows that. One of my friend's father was magistrate and he told me all those stories about the etiquettes and channels of money-taking and the different ways of delivering an unfair judgment.
2. What press are you talking about. First concentrate on Media-Politics-Business nexus. It is Businessman and Politician who need the courts. For every suffering IM (Influential Man), there are IMs who are rejoicing. And Media can be called fair - because they were only castigating the less responsible party. Policemen are easier to be bought. And do u think this castigation had any effect on them. They do not go in their ACRs.
3. I am not sure. Will reread ur first post and then make comments.
4. Jury - What effect will it have if it is tried in front of a corrupt jury than a corrupt judge.
5. If Public Outrage will have any effect on the case, I will condemn the sentence. Public Outrage is neither the measure of severity of crime nor fair.
PS - Mahesh, Will you stop groaning at me

For, it has been revealed that in our country you can kill seven people and get just six months in prison. That’s approximately 26 days per life taken and even less if you’re lucky enough to get the month of February as part of the sentences. You could probably whittle it down to even less if your negotiation skills are as good as my mathematical ones
|
What Crap?? Can you apply such numerical analysis here. Tomorrow if I go on a shooting spree, What punishment will you demand for me?? A 1000 years imprisonment to justify that human lives in India are worth more.
Quote:
|
For all of you pricks who are sitting there with your mouths open waiting for flies to go in, wondering what I am talking about, I am obviously referring to the recent judgement in the Alistair Pereira drink, act like a mad man, kill some poor people and run case.
|
Abominable to say the least..
Quote:
|
The court as usual released some bull shit statements about the lack of evidence. Trash of Islamabad quoted the “honourable” judge A.P. Mishra, or as Alistair’s uncle likes to refer to him “The good man” as having identified the following gaps in evidence:
|
What do you want ToI to do?? What diff it wud have made has they said dis-honorable Judge. And is it the fault of Alistair's Uncle if he is a little biased towards Alistair or whoever.. Do you not see here Plumber a little biased towards you. This is human nature and you cannot question it.
Quote:
|
1. There was no proper sketch of the accident site drawn up to show how fast the car was going.
|
Quote:
I have just a few questions about this.- Do sketches really reveal speed? I thought they were two dimensional and didn’t move. Thank God I didn’t become an architect or a cartoonist.
- How slow can a car be going if it’s engine has been ripped out of the bonnet?
- How fast does a car have to go to kill seven people?
- How fast is a car allowed to go when it’s on the FRIGGING PAVEMENT?
|
Hopeless Arguments. DO not tell me that an architect cannot draw a representation of a House as a House is 3D and image is not. Engine ripped out of Bonnet - Who knows it was the case? And even if someone does know, it is not a sufficient proof. In some extreme cases, Engine does rip apart at very slow speeds.
Kill Seven People - Dude!! A car going at 10 KPH can kill 10-11 people if not more and more so if they are sleeping and do not even take the pains to remove their bodies out of the line of fire.
Quote:
So let’s move on to the second point of contention.
2. There was no forensic evidence to show that Alistair was drunk
I know this sounds really ridiculous, but the police have an excellent excuse. Investigating officer Meenakshi Patil confronted the angry press explaining that it had been impossible to get any evidence to this effect as Alistair had been holding it in since November. She managed to say all this even as suspicious looking yellow droplets were trickling down from her mouth to her cheeks.
|
And what difference it would have made had there any evidence that he was drunk.. He wud have been charged for drunk driving. And in that case, not for murder as he was not in his senses while driving.
I do not know what is the imprisonment for drunk driving, but surely it is not Life.
Quote:
|
3. No high profile court case would be complete without its share of hostile witnesses.
|
And no high profile case is complete without its share of implanted witnesses. We are not clear whether he was even responsible for the accident or not.
Had the driver been some unknown fella, you wud have let 100 people die and not say a dime against him.
Is it exactly Alistair's fault that he is rich?? Typical Communist feelings soemthing ala old Bolly movies eh...
Quote:
|
4. The “good man” says that one of the reasons he could not persecute Alistair under the appropriate law was a lack of INJURY CERTIFICATES
|
Forget about logic dude.. In India, everything needs to be in written. And u certainly cannot fault the judge for this.
Quote:
|
5. The great Mumbai Mara has attributed another brilliant observation to the “good man”. They quote him as saying that the police offered NO EXPLANATION FOR THE ACCIDENT. Hmmm….I can just imagine what amazing explanations Alistair and his brilliant lawyer Manjula Rao came up with in court. I think they may have sounded a little like this :
|
I was really wondering what this Mumbai Maraa is until I read Sanaa's post that it was name of some Mumbai tabloid.
And u r forgetting the basic premise of justice Let 100 criminal go scot-free but do not imprison a single innoncent Man. In that respect, persecution need to give convincing arguments not the defendant. If u do not believe in the basic premise of justice, give us arguments in support of ur belief.
Quote:
|
“Those people jumped on my car because they were jealous of me”
|
Now u would not believe it, but there are such cases. Due to widespread poverty and Ignorance/Illiteracy these people do not themselves love their life.
Quote:
|
The trash have of course done a good job of kissing the judiciary’s ass by placing the blame for the mild sentence squarely on the cops for not providing enough evidence. I hate to be a little upstart, but allow me this one minor observation. You have dead people. You have a smashed car. You know who the driver is. HOW MUCH MORE FREAKING EVIDENCE DO YOU NEED?
|
And who says there is evidence for each of the thing syou mentioned. Kissing the Judiciary's ***. What the Heck?? Does it make any diff had they not... Some morons like you wud have then castigated them for Not Blaming the Police enuf and casting aspersions on Honorable Judiciary or Maybe taken it against Politicians. The problem with we Indians is we rarely fail to see the big picture castigating individual components. Yups, Judiciary is not devoid of Blame, but on the whole the System is to blame.
Quote:
|
The brilliance of our judicial system is that the onus is on the prosecution and not the defence.
|
This is how it shud be.. Extremely bad satire when the prosecution is public..
Quote:
|
There is no reports anywhere of the defence being pressurized by the court to come up with some alternate explanation for the accident apart from obvious inebriation and the fact that the driver was A Big Stupid Moron. It would at least been nice if the defence had bothered to come up with some fake reports proving that the car malfunctioned or that there was a huge orange eagle that suddenly flew across the road and distracted Alistair. But in this case the defence has got away with simply saying “ I don’t know why he did it, but it certainly wasn’t because he was drunk”.
|
Misquotation... There are numerous instances when defence have been asked to submit evidence.
And really clever criminals do plant enuf evidence before their crime to fool everyone. Do u want to say that they should be spared and not these gullible fellows who really did not know what they are doing??
My Overall Comments:
You turned what would have been serious discussion on a sad incident into a joke. Deliberately trying to be funny, you did not even make sure that people take it in the right spirit and argue for the poor souls who died. If this is the way, you will go about mobilizing public opinion on a case, I am sure you will only enhance Alistair's stature and turn sane ppl off the event.
And on the side of the topic, I feel Judiciary is not entirely wrong in giving Alistair 6 months imprisonment. Though 2 years wud have been better but anything above that wud have been too harsh for a person with no criminal background.
The deaths he caused were completely unintentional and shud not be used as a proof to castigate him. My proper justification will depend on the intricacies of the case which I am not aware of completely.

I am really sorry that I have to make a post here that has nothing to do with the topic.Well,I dont really need to be.Many people have been doing that on this thread. They set a precedent and the thread starter has then been accused of not following up on the thread.
Even this comes from faulty reasoning that he is supposed to post within
24 hrs. Or that every thread starter in the past has always followed up on his threads.
It is fine if u can initiate the discussion. One suggestion was good though. That this thread title should be changed to include others cases of injustice was a great idea.
@Rohit- "I think i have not been much positive here and cant make you anymore ehch eye vee negative. And for the knife in your drawer, better sharpen your pencils, cos you are not much use with the keyboard anyway!"
Boss, I didnt expect this from someone like you. Is this how you treat a newbie who has not made more than 10 posts. Is this how you would have treated some other newbie who makes such a fantastic post (k,my opinion! )
Your final comments that I quoted look like a vicious and desperate attempt at scaring him away. Seems like ur hatred for Plumber and his
Jamaat is spilling over.
Could u not have put it in a positive manner like Psychodementia or Kaa?
Anyway that is ur style. If so,this Friday guy is entitled to have his own.
Subodh- The groan was for that particular post.Nothing personal
I can never doubt the overall intelligence of a person who says Sackhim
Man_friday -dont open thread for making a single post.Get a feel of the place before u start a new thread. And tone down ur language if u can.
That the kind of language u used in ur post is found in many Sunday papers is a different thing.
PS: Better start working on ur blog. Will be a hit.And only people who understand it will come to read u again.

Good points.U could have freed Pariera in 3 months.
Povided u refrain from blurting gems like-

And what difference it would have made had there any evidence that he was drunk.. He wud have been charged for drunk driving. And in that case, not for murder as he was not in his senses while driving.
I do not know what is the imprisonment for drunk driving, but surely it is not Life.

And no high profile case is complete without its share of implanted witnesses. We are not clear whether he was even responsible for the accident or not.

!!!Are u justifying it or saying it is the in thing?

Kill Seven People - Dude!! A car going at 10 KPH can kill 10-11 people if not more and more so if they are sleeping and do not even take the pains to remove their bodies out of the line of fire.

Is it exactly Alistair's fault that he is rich?? Typical Communist feelings soemthing ala old Bolly movies eh...
|
Well, I am no commie lover
There is a widespread contempt and apathy for the law of the land among the country's rich and influential. The spoilt brats flaunt this apathy.
That the guardians of law kneel in front of the rich makes matters worst.
Many (once again not ALL) of them have grown up watching cops,lawyers,IT-customs officers, teachers, etc crawling in front of their rich parents.
Thus u have many such incidents.
If anyone feels there is no truth to what I have said, just meet someone who is drunk on the power of his parents.
One more thing. There is talk about Perreira or Salman getting the short end just because they are rich or celebs.
Then also remember that thousands are locked up in jails for decades just because they dont have the money for bail. And what is their crime?
Stole food, cycle,etc.
