my friend says that if we buy a dell with vista os and if we change the os by ourselves then the warranty will be void
hw i dont 9w.............

my family has a vaio..bought 1 yr back at 59K now must be 52-54K..its Ok..but then vaio after sales in a b-school can be a prob..

it indeed is dell,as i had told, inspiron1525, .. and the deal, sure is worth more than even 60K since i also have taken vista home premium, bluetooth headdset adn bag and all that jazz.. now y did i do that ? , i sure m not nuts to waste money on OS .. but check check check .. dell has some offer that if the price crosses 60k, they give some more discount than even5%.. also, i booked the leptop on the name of a frnd in infy . so 3% more discount !!  .. PM me if u want no. of the sales guy who did my deal .. same deal can be replicated i guess..

he offered me this configuration

2.1GHz Processor( 8100)
3 GB RAM
250 GB HDD
any color case
No graphics (intel X3100)
Vista Home Premium
1 yr warranty
Total Price (including taxes)= Rs:45,529.99
plus he was offering me 9 cell battery for free ...
quotation is attached..please note that 9 cell battery is not mentioned here..he also told me price of XPS is down by 2-3Ks

The huge excise duty amount is not there for the Dell Vostro Models.. infact you can evade all taxes if you can wait for 5 extra days for delivery but u can't do that for an Inspiron/XPS... configure a vostro on dell.co.in and see it for yourself... I don't understand such differential policies for the two models... Can someone investigate?

Infact, in addition to the Vostro line, there is no excise duty on the Inspiron 1520 and 1720 models either. Don't know why.

Checked.. nop .. here too no rebate of any sort..
puys make sure you select these options :
Tax Calculation : Please select shipping State and City for tax calculation.
If you are not checking these and selecting a state and city, you're not calculating any tax that needs to be paid and ultimately, this whole discussion, last 3-4 posts are leading nowhere in that case..
